A time to be thankful
- Mick Sterbs (19th Dec 2021 - 12:31:54)

It’s the time of year to reflect on those people in Liphook who have made such a positive effect on our lives and who make Liphook such a special place to live in.

I’d like to kick this off as follows:-

Liphook Travel
For working so incredibly hard during the crazy times of Covid with booking, cancelling, rescheduling, rebooking and still coming up smiling.

Lazy Lizard
For being so community minded during the entire pandemic, especially the early days when you sold grocery supplies and provided hot meals to people.

Liphook in Bloom
For making the village look absolutely stunning, for working so hard in all weathers including 3 hours of watering in the dry weather, and all done respecting the Covid rules.

The Heritage Centre
Where a small team of volunteers do so much work to capture and display the history of our lovely village.

The Carnival Committee
For continuing to keep a long tradition going, even when we’ve not been able to have one for 2 years.

The Peak Centre
For providing meals and company for the elderly of the village, helping to deal with loneliness.

The Community Laundry
Who provide an important service to elderly and compromised residents in collecting/washing/ironing/delivering laundry.

I’m sure there are many others so please add whoever you think deserves a mention. And can I remind people of that old adage …… if you can’t say something good, then don’t say anything.

Happy Christmas to all.

Wonderful post Mick, thank you.

I would like to add the Infant and Junior School for continuing to be as supportive of the pupils and their throughout the Pandemic as they would have been in 'normal' times.

Well done Mick for pointing out the positive things in our Parish.
As an indication of how vibrant our community is just look at the Club's and Organisations listed in the Liphook Community Magazine.

Can I add the Liphook Community Magazine, that was recently voted the 12th best local magazine in the country.

When the first lock down kicked in, almost two years ago, it was suggested that perhaps, for the first time, we should revert to an online only edition.

The management committee and the distributers were consulted and were adamant that, come what may, we would continue with a hard copy delivered to the door.

Well done Liphook

A great post Mick. We are so lucky to live in such a caring community but it is not always appreciated . Many thanks to all our wonderful village volunteers. Merry Christmas to all and wishing you a happy and healthy New Year. Stay safe.

A lovely positive thread!
I'd like to add The Tantum Trust (shop in Station Rd) who have managed to continue trading in difficult circumstances, raising money to help local people in need. Almost £18,000 worth of supermarket vouchers was distributed in time for Christmas allowing families to be able to afford extra items and hopefully bring some Christmas cheer.
And thanks to all those who support the Charity by donating items and also buying from the shops
Happy Christmas everyone!

I think the wonderful staff at sainsburys deserve a mention. They all had to work through the pandemic and had to put up with quite a few ungrateful moaners.
