Railway Improvements - AF (18th Dec 2021 - 08:34:05) I'm confused. I was at the railway station today and noticed a poster warning the lines between Guildford and Petersfield will be closed for a week in February for updated digital signals and crossing improvements to be made, and part of the reason was to increase capacity. All very good, but in December they are reducing the number of trains. So why do you increase the number of trains you can run and then reducing the amount of trains you actually run.

Doubtless there will have been two committees, one deciding we need more capacity, the other decreeing we have used up all available funds creating capacity. In pure capitalist terms, the important outcome is that we, the people, now have equal potential of opportunity, we may get to work slower, but we know that we might have got there sooner if we had paid more tax. In terms of equality, this is really important. We can all be equally fed up. Stay Safe, Merry Season! (or whatever it is now)
