Closure of footpath
- Carolyn (1st Nov 2021 - 22:28:34)

Anyone know why the footpath from the recreation ground towards the library has been closed, and for how long ?

The footpath has been closed as it is a hazard and the Parish Council are awaiting quotes from contractors for repairs. Access is still possible to the Bowls club from the little rec end.

This post interests me, because before Covid, I went into the Parish Office to complain about the state of the uneven paving slabs. The response was that it was not one of their responsibilities, as they did not own the path. I was told to contract the landowner about a repair.

This path does not appear on the Hampshire county definitive
map of public rights of way. Does the Parish Council own it, and let the public use it as a 'permissive path'? Otherwise, what is its status? I have walked this path for the best part of 36 years. Should it be a public 'right of way'?

Nowhere near as uneven as that awful block paving we had in the square not so long ago which knocked out the tracking on my van. I would love to know what idiot thought of that.
