Liphook square
- Russ (25th Oct 2021 - 15:51:48)

Fun and games in the square traffic lights making it very difficult. I liked the suggestion by the people that put them in they said that they let us no in good time so we could find another way round the square. Only way round is a ten mile drive to Liss and back. Perhaps HCC and EHDC should try it. What happened to our ring roads. This highlights the problem with six roads going though 50mt of road a conservation square and no way round it.Never mind 10 years time it will be like this all the time.

Does anyone know how long these works are going to take?

Originally said 3 days but don’t hold your breath. Perhaps this is a taste of what’s to come ten years down the line.

Why are you worried about 10 years' time Russ??

Re: Liphook square
- Russ (26th Oct 2021 - 13:40:13)

Not worried Gilly just stating a fact. I probably will not be around then anyway. It just makes me sad to see our lovely village centre being ruined by traffic. All because of lack of forward planning. All the powers to be councils ect seem to not want to look to the future. Such a shame to lose our history which our square has . Other towns and villages are doing something about it I bet if PETERSFIELD had six roads going through their square they would soon remedy it. As I say never mind people seem not to care anymore about the future.

Robert may be you don't have to access the village to go to - from work, 2 times a day without a possibility of missing the busiest times due to work commtiments - transiting the 3 roundabouts even without roadworks is frustrating & hazardous under normal situation due to arrogance & ignorance of drivers who choose to stop all traffic flow by blocking the roundabouts.

What happened to our ring road apart from the A3, which is hard to access during these road repair events, is that people voted for a millennium hall rather than easier access for Sainsbury lorries avoiding the square. A three minute wait is nothing to complain about and at least you know you'll get a green light to go; school out time is when motorists are held up by the constant crossing of school kids, so why isn't there a pelican crossing installed, then we'd all have a fair go.

Re: Liphook square
- Steve (28th Oct 2021 - 17:52:20)

I suspect that the authorities fear that a pelican or light controlled crossing would not deter a significant proportion of the Bohunt students from ignoring allocated crossing periods (Green Man) and dashing across the road as traffic pauses whilst giving way at the roundabouts.
In those circumstances accidents would be highly likely which is a risk that road planners would be reluctant to accept.

K yes I do have to use the village for work, when the lights were there, I'm a care worker, and travel to the vulnerable, I used the village maybe 7 times when the lights were up, have a good day
