Damp
- Mark (1st Sep 2021 - 10:29:11)

Has anyone had good experiences with damp proofing/dry rot treatment from a trusted local person?

Have found National companies online like Peter Cox with a Camberley office but always prefer real local companies with good recommendations

Clearly you have a damp problem and I don't know how far you've been with this, so don't want to distress you, but your post is very vague. True dry rot is a very particular problem and often unrelated to a buildings damp.proofing in terms of rising damp, can you be more specific, if you have external water ingress creating damp, you should probably start with a local a builder or roofer to find and fix the problem, hopefully you don't have dry rot but if you do this needs to be evaluated, the property sealed etc and the damaged wood replaced, I don't know if the damage is covered by buildings insurance, maybe worth asking (although long term water damage usually isn't).

However, worth mentioning that in a domestic setting if it shows internal damp then you are often looking at condensation from within, so other treatments such as ventilation and insulation etc required, that combination always confuses people but they both need to happen in a regulated way, perhaps a local builder or surveyor to start with if not already done as a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding out there on damp, but rarely is damp proofing the real culprit of internal water ingress, despite appearances, so a local reputable builder's advice is often a good start, best of luck.

Sorry for any typos just typing on the go and trying to be helpful, I've been through damp issues before😞
