Snow on the way
- AF (30th Dec 2020 - 11:25:15)

Looks like we may get a bit of snow overnight.

I know i'm a bit old but did we get more snow years ago or is it just me.

Oh and for the younger drivers for goodness sake if it snows slow right down, it's okay to drive at 10 MPH or slower in snow, brakes DON'T work.

Because of my health, I do not sleep much at night.
When I looked out yesterday morning around 7 am, it was all white and it was snowing. It did not last and soon turned to rain but I have to admit, I was somewhat excited :-)
I too am of the belief that we had more snow when we were children!

We certainly did, I remember the schools being closed for weeks when I was about 8, and spending hours outside making huge snowballs, and sledging down any slope on an old tin tray. Most winters we had snow. it was always part of Christmas, because it often did snow around the Christmas season, thats why a lot of the Christmas cards were of snowy scenes.

I think our memories are often rose tinted with nostalgia. We look back on our long distance youth and magnify infrequent but happy events so they seem to have occurred more often than they actually did. I recall many happy, sunny holidays in North Devon as a child but in reality I only went twice and I suspect the weather wasn't wall to wall sunshine despite my recollection. No doubt too many recreational drugs in 1967 (probably just one puff of a joint in reality) has messed up my brains pathways. I'm sure our grandchildren in many years to come will think that they had to wear face masks throughout their childhood
