Tier 4
- AF (23rd Dec 2020 - 23:37:44)

Well it had to happen Tier 4 from boxing day. This proves we must get the vaccine ASAP, it is the only solution.

It's being rolled out and local people are receiving it. For goodness sake if you are offered the vaccine take it, it is safe and has been tested, yes i know it normally takes longer but these are not normal times.

We cannot go on like this.

Re: Tier 4
- WENDY MARTIN (24th Dec 2020 - 09:46:38)

my husband had the vaccine yesterday, I tried, but because I am allergic to penicillin I was not allowed to have it, I was told I could have another vaccine, but I dont know how long that will be. My husband is fine, so please, everyone who can have it, please do, think of our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, all wanting to get on with their lives, and unable to until we can get rid of this dreadful virus. Take care everyone, and have a safe and Happy Christmas

Re: Tier 4
- Rob (24th Dec 2020 - 10:15:54)

Of course it did, they have to justify their casedemic.
Oh a mutation, that's been around since September at least in this country (longer in Brazil possibly). Virus mutate, it's what they do, very very rapidly. There is no evidence that this mutation is any more dangerous than any of the other thousands of mutations that have been discovered so far (IFR of 0.1% according to the WHO). This government has made no attempt to have a democratic debate about this. It is ruling by decree and using "emergency" legislation to restrict the freedoms of the people of this country. Enough I say. Where is your evidence, and I don't mean "models" from the charlatan Prof. Ferguson who has called every major epidemic wrong so far (Swine Flu, CJD/BSE, Foot and mouth, Avian Flu). They don't even know if the vaccine actually stops people being able to spread the disease yet.
The whole thing is ridiculous, the NHS in London discharged more COVID patients than it admitted last week. How? Why? Because 25% of all infections actually occur in hospitals. The unpalatable truth is that the NHS is not fit for purpose. It is absurd that we should destroy the hopes and dreams and the entire cultural sector of this country and divert the entire economic output into "defeating" a virus that is already endemic in the population. That 40% of "cases" don't even show any symptoms, that even 95% of even the over 70s who contract it will recover from it? Frankly bonkers.

- Al (24th Dec 2020 - 10:35:57)

Well said Rob I'm 100% not having the vaccine, and people can say what they like, I won't be bullied into taking it. On the subject of tier 4,i have a family member at mine and am taking him back home on boxing day, so will I be allowed or, will she have to stay with me for 2 weeks?

Re: Tier 4
- Ted (24th Dec 2020 - 11:17:20)

Doesn't sound like you'd care anyway Al so do what you want

Re: Tier 4
- Al (24th Dec 2020 - 12:19:20)

Thankyou Ted I shall do indeed and a merry Xmas to you

Re: Tier 4
- passfield resident (24th Dec 2020 - 12:57:08)

Al-who is bullying you?

Re: Tier 4
- Mandy (24th Dec 2020 - 12:59:46)

Al I am quite positive you will be fine to do so and, I also shall not be accepting the vaccine, 1 year is not long enough to find out the long term effects of this. It is up to the individual if they want it...... Not for me

Re: Tier 4
- AF (25th Dec 2020 - 05:47:24)

I do understand why some people do not want the vaccine and I think quite simply they were wrong.

Now I agree that this virus is not as bad as the media makes out the death rate is less than 0.5% and although it is more dangerous for the elderly the vast majority do recover.

The problem is all these restrictions we have on our lives and the fact that the Hospitals are full up with COVID patients who will mostly recover, why we can't use the nightingale hospitals for COVID baffles me, as the regular hospitals could continue with their normal day to day work.

The only way out of this is to take the vaccine and to be effective we need a 70-80% uptake and i fear this may not happen.
I don't want to spend all of 2021 in and out of lockdown, masks on and no social life.

- Grant (25th Dec 2020 - 08:27:22)

AF,
There are no spare medical staff to operate the Nightingale's. That's why!

Re: Tier 4
- D (25th Dec 2020 - 08:43:04)

I am in favour of anything that will end this dystopian existence we have been leading for nearly a year. I would love to know what this "agenda" is that the conspiracy theorists talk of. I'm sure Boris would rather be remembered for something other than the bungling oaf who a year ago was telling us coronavirus is nothing to worry about.

Re: Tier 4
- Claire (26th Dec 2020 - 11:35:00)

I do hope any person whom the NHS offers the vaccine to takes it with gratitude.
If a person refuses the vaccine I am sure their moral compass will also make them refuse treatment on the NHS for themselves or any family member they infect with Covid.

I really hope the cost of travel insurance goes through the roof for those who refuse it without medical exemption.

Re: Tier 4
- Pete (27th Dec 2020 - 01:01:25)

People tested positive in just Liphook and bramshott in the 7 days to 21 December has now hit 23, a few weeks ago this was just 3 or 4 people So the Rate per 100k resident population is 246.2 (locally) when weeks ago it had dropped to just 50 odd.

They always told us winter would be bad, well it’s definitely kicking in in the very close local area now!

This thing isn’t actually that easy to catch, I know a few people whom have been close to others that tested positive but not caught it from them even during its infectious stage, you primarily catch it by not following the guidelines. Ie you mostly catch it via stupidity and then much lesser so via bad luck,

Can we just bite the bullet please and stick to the guildlines till we get into the summer and the vaccine gets a grip on it

Re: Tier 4
- Joe (27th Dec 2020 - 09:11:54)

If too many people refuse the vaccine the virus will stay forever.

Re: Tier 4
- D (28th Dec 2020 - 19:47:28)

I think Clair makes a very good point. On insurance proposals "have you ever refused covid vaccine?" could be the new "have you ever had an aids/HIV test?" Answering yes to either would considerably increase one's premium.

Re: Tier 4
- Wallis (30th Dec 2020 - 01:29:52)

Spain will register citizens who refuse Covid-19 vaccine.

Spain has said that it will add those who refuse to be vaccinated against coronavirus to an official register, in an apparent warning to antivaxers as the country begins mass inoculations.

Salvador Illa, the health minister, said that while those who refused the jab were within their rights to do so, the list would be shared with other European nations in much the same way as health records for “other treatments”.

Re: Tier 4
- Suzi (30th Dec 2020 - 13:39:48)

@ Wallis

once again Spain demonstrates a draconian attitude,as it has done throughout this pandemic.

Maybe they should start a register of all those who smoke and refuse to abstain,as this habit induces many health conditions, shortens lives etc etc.

Or even a register of all those on benefits that feed feral cats....

Francos regimes is still alive in the Spanish government it would seem.

They don't deserve all those Brits who frequent their country, hopefully when Jo Public realises all the issues travelling to Europe for hols they will visit elsewhere!

Re: Tier 4
- D (30th Dec 2020 - 16:01:43)

Nothing wrong with a disciplined, well ordered society. So much better than the selfish attitude displayed by many concerning the pandemic over here. Given the restrictions we've had since March, I don't think we're in a position to call anyone "draconian."

Re: Tier 4
- Joe (30th Dec 2020 - 16:33:38)

Not sure if Spain operates a National Health Service but smoking and obesity usually only kills the one person. COVID spread around kills many. The Spanish can
choose not to treat the anti-vaccers if they choose to, it is selfish not to have the vaccine if you have no serious allergy to it.
