Blood donation rule change
- James (14th Dec 2020 - 14:38:22)

As we are all aware there is a blood shortage in the UK. And it is estimated that 1 in 4 people will need to have a blood transfusion at some point in their life.

The new criteria focus on individual behaviours, lifting a blanket ban for any men who have had sex with men in the last three months.

This means that men who have sex with men and are in a long-term relationship will now be able to donate blood at any time! The changes will be implemented by the Summer of 2021!

Ultimately this means that more people will be able to give blood, and save a life!

Remember to sign up to give blood at my.blood.co.uk/preregister

This post reminded me to book my next donation but Liphook didn't come up as a venue! Does anyone know why this would be? Are Liphook not hosting this anymore?

I gave blood in Petersfield a week or so ago and the nurse said that Liphook is not used in the winter because the lighting in the hall is inadequate.
