COVID Good news

Good news with regards to COVID is rather scarce but i did hear today that the rail franchise scheme has been abandoned in most respects.
The rail service will be under Government control and the franchise companies will receive a flat fee to deliver a service and all ticket sales will go to the government who will cover the losses, as the services cannot be run profitably with the lack of passengers.
I have noticed that since COVID the service has improved with a more reliable service less delays and cancellations and lots more room on the trains, I sometimes get a whole carriage to myself.
The only downside being less trains and having to wear a mask.

If public money is being used to pay for a privately owned train where there is one person per carriage then surely a mini bus would be adequate?
