Quarantine after holiday?
- C (19th Aug 2020 12:23:32)
Just wondering if anyone has had to do this? What checks were made at the airport when you got back? Were you given any information about staying indoors? Is it correct you cannot go for a walk, even in an area where you would meet no-one or could easily stay over two metres apart?
If we have to quarantine with no daily walks after a holiday, we probably wouldn't go at all.

If you visit a country where you need to self isolate on return you have stay within your own accommodation or garden for 14 days. So no long walks unless you have a very big garden I suppose!
Also check your travel insurance. The government is now advising against all but essential to France, for example, so your insurance is unlikely to cover you.

I recently returned from Spain and in quarantine. So far had two telephone calls from Border Control checking I was at home. You will need to stay in the confines of your property and will need family or friends to leave shopping at front door for you

I will be getting a covid test when I arrive home and if I am clear I will be continuing with my life. It’s ridiculous that they do not advertise this as an option, if it is not viable, then why is testing something we are promoting and encouraging?
Heathrow are going to be testing people with results after 7 hours to reduce quarantine time, I see no difference in heading to one of the many testing centres upon your return

You will have to fill in a very detailed form 48hrs before your return about your address and intended movements in the UK, and you need to have a reference number for that form to present to the UK border force when you attempt to return.
I had to do it but fortunately there was no quarantine in place for the place I came from, I suspect if there is a quarantine set for returning from your holiday country then its vital you get the reference number otherwise you might not be let past check in in the other country.
If you dont want to fill in a few extra forms dont book a holiday.
Winter is coming and we need to keep a lid on this

Ignore Katie’s bad advice or risk a fine. As things stand at the moment legislation requires you to self isolate for 14 days regardless of any tests you may take. This could change but at the moment you must quarantine for 14 days if coming from any country on the government list

@ Katie.
You could get infected on Day 1 but it wont show on a test for eg days 2-3-4-5-6 etc hence WHY they insist you quarantine for 14 days you utter dozer ! for 14 days is the only decent way to allow the virus to grow enough that you will get symptoms and or positive test.
So your idea of going on hols, getting a test when you arrive back and sacking the 14 days quarantine is just stupid and selfish, hopefully like the women in the isle of man whom didnt do her quarantine and took a bus you get locked in prison for a month like she did.

Katie,
Never mind about a Covid test, you should take an IQ test to confirm to us all how thick you really are. And if there was such a thing as a Selfish test I’d recommend you take one of those too.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Katie appalled by your lack of responsibility - test only proves you are fine that day -- Hope if you ignore quarantine you get caught - think of the people you could affect - including your own loved ones - It's not worth it!
Where do you shop & go to work so that I can avoid you?

Oh dear this has opened a can of worms. If you were already away on holiday when the quarantine rules started you must self isolated within your own property for 14 days. No if or buts. If you haven’t booked your holiday or are due to go away check your insurance including the tiny print.
Ideally don’t go abroad yet, could cost you a lot more pennies than you planned.
