Time for reflection
- LIB Supporter (19th Jun 2020 09:27:08)
I felt compelled to write as I have just read a couple of separate posts relating to weeds and the flower beds around the village.
It is then a good time for everyone to consider what a fantastic job the Liphook in Bloom (LIB) team of volunteers have done over the last 20+years to make the village look beautiful with well planned and managed flower displays.
This is all funded through very kind & generous sponsorship and donations and work undertaken is on a voluntary basis by a small group of people.
Given the current situation and restrictions the LIB team haven’t been out and about on their usual schedule and the summer planting has been temporarily delayed.
If you have recently been missing the beautiful flower beds since the bulbs have been removed, or noticed extra weeds around the village, perhaps reflect on the fact that without these kind volunteers and donations this is how Liphook would permanently look!
If you’d like help support the future of LIB I know the team would be very happy to hear from anyone who wishes to volunteer or make a donation to help keep Liphook blooming!

Let the weeds grow. Good for wildlife !!!
Why does everything have to be neat and tidy . With extra houses being built , our wildlife needs all the help it can get !
Also, hedges overhanging etc etc under control of the council might not be tended to like before, we were warned of the impact to our services due to covid . There isn't a bottomless pit of money, we're in the middle of a global pandemic. An overgrown bush is hardly up there on the priority list we will have to learn to live with things .

Liphook In Bloom are a great asset to Liphook as people who give their time to brightening up the village. They don't take funding from anywhere else and deserve the support of Liphook residents who by and large ( apart form the odd twit) appreciate what they do

The flowers planted by Liphook In Bloom improve the appearance of the village. These flowers, including the wonderful wild flower beds on the village green, benefit those insects seeking pollen.
All in all Liphook In Bloom help with the Health & Wellbeing of our residents and visitors especially in these fraught times.

I agree, the Liphook in Bloom volunteers do a fantastic job in the village.
My personal preference is for the more 'natural' style so I would love to see more of the wildflower meadow, haphazard type of planting, like the "St Edmund's sponsored roundabout" on the A333. I should think that type of planting is much less labour-intensive to maintain and would only need a quick mow once a year. I'm not sure if we have any flower beds that would be large enough for that sort of display though. The smaller beds do tend to suit the more formal style.
Anyway, whatever is planted always looks lovely, so thank you to LIB for all that you do.

It is now that the gardens around our village are empty that one realises the great job that Liphook in Bloom do in bringing life and joy to the area in normal times. I hope that they will be able to resume normal activities in due course but, of course, staying safe if the first priority. Thank you to all the volunteers who brighten village life.

h,
You either have your tongue firmly in your cheek or you are a miserable so and so.
If its the first good on you, bit of diverse humour never went amiss. If its the second well get back under your stone.

I do not know why such trolling is neccessary Peter we are all different in how we perceive what is an attractive planting design. No need to insult people for their views.
