The "quote" from Samuel Pepys on Page 3 of the magazine is fake.
Looks like the [magazine] editor's blindy reposted something seen on social media to fill up a bit of space?
Anyone who knows basic English history will quickly spot some red flags. The date of 1664 is a year too early for the Great Plague, which the quote appears to describe (a few cases were reported, but the overwhelming majority came in 1665). And the phrase "Her Majesty's men" is also curious, given that Charles II was on the throne at the time. No reigning queen would assume the throne until Mary II in 1689.
The quote is, in fact, no older than March 2020. It was penned by the person behind @PepysDiaries Twitter Account.

Colin
You are correct and the error was spotted after the Magazine was printed.
However readers might like to treat the 'quote' as a parody of Samuel Pepys' thought process during the 17th Century plague.
During March when we were already compiling the summer issue inclusion of this 'quote' seemed most appropriate!
The Liphook Community Magazine hope that that you enjoy reading the remainder of the Magazine.

Good to see there are some educated folk on Talkback, you do wonder sometimes.

Thank you, Colin, for explaining where that so-called quote actually came from. I had wondered about its veracity when I read it, but hadn't yet got around to checking it out.

I remember this was doing the Facebook rounds back in March and got quickly debunked by those in the know, doh! It was very well written by someone, fooled loads of people, but very funny nonetheless, it's egg on the face time, but no harm done!

It was of course a Spoof and I am sure intended as such.
The unkind words - directed at the [Magazine] Editor who works incredibly hard to produce this magazine without any recompense, are uncalled for and very sad.

I totally LOVE this magazine coming through my door each season, How blessed we are to have people willing to put so much time and energy, not to mention money into it. Thank you for all your hard work. It’s greatly appreciated.

The last edition was excellent, especially the long article on Adrian Bird. There's nothing fake about the magazine-it is an honest effort to celebrate Liphook's community. Much easier to make smart comments than to put in the hours doing something useful for Liphook
