Victoria Way
- Al (22nd Jan 2019 - 16:37:56)

This question has been asked before but I am wondering as to whether anyone new has got any history of Victoria Way and whether there has been anything unsavoury which happened in the past. The reason for asking is spooky things have happened in the house and I am wondering what to do.

There is a lot of spooky activity around the Liphook area. I seem to recall something from my childhood of odd things being seen in that area before the estate was built but I can't recall the details I am afraid. I am sure someone on here will know..

If you are very close to Bohunt mobile phone mast. That could be a possible cause of interference?

I have heard that there was Luffs Farm which was on the land in Victoria Way, I wonder whether anyone has any history on this and the owners?

Luffs Farm was where Bohunt School now stands, Victoria Way was where the allotments were.

Victoria Way is effectively behind the Royal Anchor. The Royal Anchor has always been reputed to be haunted. Prisoners on their way to Portsmouth to be sent to Australia etc were shackled in the cellars overnight. It was also a smugglers route and it is reputed that there was a tunnel between the Anchor and Lloyds Bank which was a local tavern.

Yes D was the allotments and Mr Bleach’s house. They moved across the road to the second bungalow on the right Bleach’s were a very large construction road building firm with a yard behind country wide ie Bleach’s yard. Mr Bleach came from Canada during the war and stayed. Midland Farm owned by the Luff family for generations was compulsory purchased by HCC to build Bohunt school. It was grade A farm land the public and the community were very much against it they wanted the school built up on the old hospital site. Where it had much better access and room to expand. So we lost a very much loved family business who relocated to Headley Luffs farm shop and have gone from strength to strength. And to this day the council’s still do not listen to the community. You can access most of the history of Liphook at the Heritage Centre which is now open.

Hello, Old Local. If I remember the hospital was still open when Shirley Williams initiated the building of Bohunt. Look on the bright side, had a school not been built there it would probably be a housing estate now similar to all the other estates that have sprung up in Liphook since the mid seventies. The A3 near the hospital (pre bypass days) would have been very dodgy for children to cross, whereas in the village centre traffic was always at a standstill at going to school time so pupils living on the south side of the A3 could cross it easily (pre pelican crossing days). Do you remember the dentist in the annex?
