Midhurst Road Car Park
- steve (17th Mar 2014 - 15:45:54)

hello,

just so people are aware there has been a ticket warden checking the car park. last week there were quite a few cars with parking tickets!!

Do we have to pay to park there now?

- maria (17th Mar 2014 - 16:25:49)

really? i thought it was free. i always park in there :}

It is free but there is a time limit on how long you can stay there.

I also spotted a traffic warden in the Station Road doctors car park last week so beware!

Hi,

There is a time limit I believe around five hours displayed by EHDC signs.
Should stop train commuters and park all-day drivers.

there is a limit of 5 hours in the carpark!

There are bays at the rear of the parking for long-stay parking I believe up to 24 hrs. If cars are left longer than 48 hrs they are towed away. Restriction on rest of car park up to 5 hours is, as someone said, to act as a deterrent for commuters to park there all day. That makes sense.

I worked in Liphook 6 years ago the 5 hour limit was in place then, there were often wardens patrolling so nothing new.

Make sure you park between the lines too - I was fined £60 for parking over a line!

Is there now going to be paid parking in Midhurst Road car park? Is this a council carpark? And the Library - will this have an app to pay soon? If anyone on the Council is on here can the council confirm?

HCC have been trying to introduce charges for this car park for years but our Parish Council have resisted vigorously whenever broached. The 5 hour limit is sensible otherwise commuters would fill it up before 7.30am

@Jill Howie. To be honest, if you parked across the lines then you absolutely deserved the fine. This is happening with increasing frequency, in some cases through a deliberate case of ‘defensive parking’ but more often just selfish carelessness. The fine should have been £100.

- Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council (15th Dec 2025 - 15:41:32)

The car park is owned by East Hampshire District Council and there are no current plans for introducing charges that we have been informed about.

In the defence of the other poster who had been fined for parking over the lines, I would like to point out that it is sometimes necessary when another vehicle has parked so close to the line that it is necessary to park over the line in order to be able to open the door when parking.

For the record I too received a fine for parking over the line because the parking space close to the entry to the Day Centre is overgrown with shrubs restricting access to vehicles.

On this occasion I remonstrated with East Hants District Council, but to no avail. I notice that this space is very rarely used because of this,

Paul Robinson
