BEN WALKER/JOHN BLEK

Each musician will play 2 x 30 minute sets separately.

BEN WALKER www.benwalkermusic.com Ben visited us a while back with his then musical partner Josienne Clarke. Since that time, they have won several major awards together, including the BBC Radio 2 Best Folk Duo Award in 2015. Ben was recently hailed as ‘one of the best acoustic guitarists in the world’ by Total Guitar magazine. He has a passion for putting old jewels in new settings; for fusing traditional and contemporary music and for playing it like no-one else. With six critically-acclaimed albums recorded with singer/songwriter Josienne Clarke and more than fifty as a producer of other artists, this multi-instrumentalist is sought out as an arranger and composer from punk to Proms. His music has been described as: 'thoughtful' (Guardian), 'deft' (Telegraph) and even 'legendary' (Morning Star). Here is Ben with Josienne Clarke at the BBC Radio 2 Folk wards back in 2015, when they performed "The Banks of The Sweet Primroses" together at the Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards:

JOHN BLEK https://johnblek.com/
John comes from Cork in Ireland and has just released his sixth album "Thistle & Thorn". His previous album "Catharsis Vol. 1" was written after a long stay in hospital which came about when he was suddenly struck down by a serious, mystery illness. His subsequent recovery and the inspirational album he produced as a result of his illness, are both testament to his determination to overcome adversity and his god-given talent. It has some stunning and deeply emotional songs on it; 'Salt in the Water', was nominated for Song of the Year at the International Folk Music Awards 2018 at Folk Alliance International in Kansas. John is a master storyteller and an inspiring live performer. His beautiful finger style guitar playing and joyous vocals, weave a tapestry that is as poignant as it is skilful. He is a true artist and just because you haven't heard of him before, doesn't mean you won't hear of him in the future. Catch him in the intimate setting of Grayshott Village Hall while you still can. This guy is going places........

Check out John's song "Lace" from his Catharsis Vol. 1 album here:
