EHDC is failing to provide services that we pay for with the Council Tax, or whatever you wish to call it.

In a recent call to ask why my Garden Waste, for which we pay an additional charge, is repeatedly not collected, no refund offered, I was told by the call handler not to address her as ' My Friend ' or she would terminate the call, World gone mad or what.

We saw them, but they were very early so we hadn't yet put our bin out. However they came up the drive and collected. Very impressed actually

The bin men visited us at 06:50 this morning much earlier than usual and I had not put the bin out in time. Nevermind, lesson learnt.

Unusual as they usual visit us in the afternoon.

Peter Rowan -

I'm sorry my friend but you should not be too hard on the call handler as she is training to be a doctor's receptionist !!!

From EHDC

A message from EHDC Leader, Cllr Richard Millard

I'm sorry to have to contact you once again about the waste collection situation in our district.

The level of service has been unacceptable, but I am working with the team to ensure that we get back on track and see a dramatic improvement as soon as possible.

I wanted to let you know what has been causing the issues and more importantly what is being done about the situation - as a matter of urgency.

The problems are no longer related to a shortage in drivers and loaders which you will recall we addressed last year with higher pay and supporting a recruitment campaign.

The issues now are two-fold: there are staff shortages in the workshop at Havant and there are vehicles needing repairs, so there is a slow turnaround time for getting vehicles back on the road. Coupled with this - there have been problems sourcing vehicle parts. Out of the 18 vehicles - seven needed parts from Europe which has been taking a considerable time.

Whilst these are practical problems being experienced by Norse, it is an unacceptable service for our residents.

We have insisted on the development of a recovery plan that sets out exactly the steps required to catch-up with missed rounds.

We now have this plan and Norse has told me that all vehicles are now operational and back on the road - which means there are spare vehicles out with the capacity to catch up.

Their recovery plan states that they will catch up with all missed collections by close of play on Saturday (18th Feb).

The details they have given me are listed below.

Clearly we cannot predict issues that may arise for Norse SE which could cause further delays but we have asked Norse to provide us with updates and we will keep you informed.

as a remainer can i suggest that everyone in liphook who voted to remain have their dustbins done as a priority

with the people in liphook who voted to leave the european union done later

that's when the norse depot can hire people who want to do the job and they have successfully got the parts they need through the new customs regulations

I agree with Gareth. Brexit has caused us nothing but harm.
