Sussex border path
- Carole (23rd Jul 2021 - 09:09:00)

New signage on the Sussex border path running from the midhurst road to Milland road.
Very obvious green signs Restricted byway. This means no motorised vehicles, access to properties only. Still people cannot read the signs.
Also a motor cyclist in the bomb pits again last night. This area is private belonging to Highfield estate. Reported to estate manager

For some ridiculous reason, the distance from Midhurst Road to North Lodge is a Public Byway and this encourages motorised vehicles - legitimately - onto the Border Path. Lobbying the council to recategorise falls on deaf ears. It isn't helped that the top section appears to be Hants Highways, whilst the Border Path comes under WSCC. The whole length down to the Black Fox should be Restricted to avoid confusion.

Any ideas to keep the motorbikes away? The problem will only get worse again now that the holidays have started. The poor landowner must have spent a fortune fencing the other end of the footpath that connects that byway to Midhurst Road, yet people persist in ripping it down. To what end? There's access just a couple of metres further along for walkers - who are the only people allowed on a footpath.

Sadly, there is too little respect for other people's property these days - and next to no understanding or sympathy as to how the countryside works.
