Funfair Millennium Green Thursday to Sunday.
- paul (22nd Jul 2021 - 21:28:35)

HI
Why do we have an approved (Council) Funfair on a residential area Millennium Green creating unsocial noise, dodgy behaviour towards young women, and possible thefts in the area. We are still in a Pandemic with no sign of it's end. I am not against fun locations for all ages, but why in a built-up area of our village.
There are no Covid 19 restrictions, so a possible spreader event. Many young may not be vaccinated, even one dose, but still pass it on....madness.

Paul

It's quite simple we are now getting back to normal and that includes things like the funfair.

If you're scared don't go.

Oh dear Paul !
We have a funfair because we do, the noise is not unsocial, its only there for 4 days, it’s their work, they are entitled to earn their living, honestly like they do.
Dodgy behaviour towards women and possible thefts ! They treat all women with total respect, and thefts, it certainly would not be them, think they were happening before the funfair arrived. What gives you the right to insinuate people so rudely. They have more manners than you obviously do, and work very hard for their living, pay there taxes just like all hard working people.
So please keep your insinuations to yourself, it’s people like you who ruin others.
Why not go over there have a bit of fun, see how they are just human like you and I (hand sanitisers all around if you are frightened of catching something!!!)

Paul, you are making a lot of unjustifiable assumptions about the people who are attending this event or running it. Yes there may be noise it is a funfair for goodness sake, dodgy behavior towards women & thefts based on what, your stereotypical views on those people that attend these events.

I will not be attending this event and it is entirely ones free choice it people want to attend & risk infection. I still continue to wear a mask at Sainsburys but have seen a number who do not (their choice), lets see where we are come winter and whether Boris freedom day hasn't caused a ripple effect further down the line.

M.O, Paul said "creating" problems, not causing them. He was not blaming the show people for all the crimes, I am sure the proportion of criminals in the showground sector are similar to that of all society.

To go to the other extreme and give them all halos and 100 per cent saintly references is a bit unbelievable. The council have an obligation to allow fairs on greens, they would be taken to task for refusing for no valid reason.

Paul - I thought the area The Green was created for village use -I must admit I won't be going this year - but you can't complain about the noise the fair has been coming ever since ( apart from last year ) The Green was created.

Paul must have a problem. The green was made for the use of the community for events ie village green anyone buying houses around the green should have been told that it would be used for events. Someone a few years back living there tried to stop the carnival because her children could not get to sleep says it all . The carnival is put on for the benefit of the community especially children I think the lady moved. So sorry for Paul but I think you should seek help the virus seems to have effected you a great deal.

Joe
Yes Paul did say “creating” but they are not creating any of those problems, if any of those problems happen while they are here, it is no different to any other weekend in liphook when they are not here.

And yes why should they not be given good references, after all it’s their livelihood, and why would they hinder that.

I’m only here to say I’m not the Paul who originally posted this!

Fancy building a village green right next to a housing estate, how dumb is that?

Given the forecast, might be a washout anyway

ER it’s the other way round all the houses have been built around our recreation areas. The millennium green and all that area was a park land before the military took it over. A lovely cricket pitch in the middle. The most stupid thing was to build a massive school slap bang in the middle of our village causing no end of problems. Developers have made a killing building houses in totally the wrong places with no benefits to the community. We should have more activities on the green perhaps a music festival or a beer festival farmers market that’s what it’s for.

Oldie, the problem of course is that we're not really a village or a town, we're a geographic anomoly, the green is too small for a town and too built up for a village, the square is not square and has no 'square' the schools are great and everybody for 20 miles knows it, but have almost no parking, the estates keep coming and the council is skint and the newcomers want to know why the village isn't exactly living up to the estate agents brochures. When I bought my house the blurb said 'Convenient for The City of London and the South Coast, Gatwick, Heathrow and the private airport at Farnborough, offering ready access to all of the world's greatest resorts and attractions', they were if course talking about Liphook!

er

Your comment reminds me of the one they used to have for Portsmouth

'Portsmouth has many many wonderful French restaurants. And they're all just a short ferry trip away'

In other words, come to Portsmouth. You can get somewhere else from here.
