Sainsburys
- Shopper (17th Apr 2021 - 11:34:10)

Now I'm sure someone on here will point me in the right direction.Absolutely shocked to see how busy Saibsburys/other shops are today. Now I know we are not living in a dictatorship country but just putting it out there-could more thought be required? Those of us who have been lucky enough to keep our jobs and support our families are only able to do our weekly shop at weekends. Would it perhaps be a complete impossibility for the older generation who may not have any obligations to perhaps consider shopping mostly during Mon-Fri to help support the spread of Covid? Just a thought....

Hi Shopper,
Crazy idea, people of what ever age, occupation, work life-style, or shift pattern, is entitled to shop when they can, or want. Wearing p.p.e, hand sanitizing, distancing when possible in shops, is the best we can do to live in a pandemic. Maybe you can shop early, or late at night during quieter times.

On a Saturday morning the store is usually very quiet before 9am.

Remember, that not all older people have "inflation proof", Civil Service pensions, some are still working.

As I predicted some kind thoughtful soul would point me in the right direction. As I said, obviously we don’t live in a dictatorship country and luckily we have the freedom to choose where/where to shop. I was just considering if there was a mere possibility that those who have more flexibility on when they can go shopping could have a passing thought for those who have less flexibility to help with social distancing, etc, which I might add wasn’t the easiest today despite what people are ‘meant’ to do? As I also stated for which ever age group who didn’t obligations during the week...Including pensioners who do work, look after grandchildren, etc

Shopper I work full time and shop after work in the week as I find shops much less crowded. Sainsburys is open until 10pm Monday to Saturday so plenty of flexibility

Thank you for the advice, that’s a ‘no’ then to my original question. Just started on-line shopping now anyway lots of slots have freed up, happy days

Ah, the joys of getting old. You spend fifty years paying taxes when today's young adults were still in nappies, you still get clobbered for tax because you took out a private pension, and then they say to you:- "I say, old person, would you mind doing your shopping another time as you're getting in my way."

Your turn will come.

Ah, generation division. Very common in Liphook. This only amplifies it.

If you can shop when others aren't, do. If you can't, then you can't.

I personally think we should go back to queing at Sainsbury's, feels much nicer when in there and allows people to actually social distance.

If only the old respected the young and the young respected the old.

James, given that Shopper did not state his/her age, YOUR COMMENT IS INVALID (I hate that phrase but never mind.) For all we know, Shopper may be the same age as me or older. I do not agree that there is age division in Liphook, despite the fact you keep trying to convince us all there is. All the young people I encounter in Liphook and surrounding areas all seem thoroughly decent, a credit to their parents and schools. Not one precocious prat among them.
