Vet surgery recommendations,please!
- John (19th Oct 2020 - 12:28:11)

Hello everyone,
A good vet surgery recommendations will be much appreciated - we have finally found a wonderful puppy (pug) - my daughter is now on cloud nine (and we are ,too): but to keep that feeling to the max, for a s long as possible, we really need an excellent vet surgery to look after the health of our little puppy girl. Thank you in advance :)

Would highly recommend Small World Vets, an independent practice in Station Road.

Small World Vets in Station Road for sure

If you're willing to travel a bit further, St Peter's Vets in Petersfield.

Book John Wakefield or Jonathan Harwood, both are excellent.

Another recommendation for Small World Vets.
Fantastic service plus different entrances for cats and dogs - really helps lessen the stress in the waiting room

Woodlands vet in Headley Road. They have been there a very long time and are very passionate and professional with all the animals. I have been registered with them for over 20 years, and cannot fault them.

Thank you very much lovely people, I knew I will be supported here . I also have been told ,that there is a veterinary service(apparently on Sat and Sun available, too) at "Pets at homes" shops, for those of you who did not know.
With our best regards to all of you, who responded ;)

I found Small World excellent in every respect - except one!
That was a late night emergency when we were referred to their ‘out of hours’ service. Rude and unhelpful. We transferred to another surgery who provided the extra service and a home visits (I had them out to do inocs to test it - excellent) only to be told by a neighbour that they have now been taken over!!
Where to go from here I’m not sure...it has made me think that owning these lovely creatures is becoming yet another problem. When they cross the rainbow bridge I shall remain pet free.

Small vet world is a no go from me. 1 of the vets is very cold and unwelcoming. I go to Headley Rd Woodlands, great staff excellent vets.

Small world vet is okish, but you wait forever in the waiting room for the vet.

Off the back of all Woodlands recommendations I went today to register. Mid day. No lights and CLOSED???
Why?

Kristen, I believe they close for lunch for a couple of hours on Fridays.

Woodland vets gets our vote . Our dog has received the best care during his time including this morning when pooch suffered a seizure at home. We rung the vets who told us what to do over the phone. He's booked in for beginning of next week for a checkover & to discuss a way forward to prevent these happening again (very frightening). We find the pet health club particularly useful, for £15 a month you get flea and worm treatments, nail clipping, anal gland treatment and discounts off some medications and health checks . Due to covid you can't just walk in . You have to have an appointment and the vet will meet you outside & take the animal in whilst u wait in the car. All very covid secure to protect them and indeed us. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else x

100% recommendation for Woodland vets. The care they continue to provide for my dog is fabulous.

Kristen We are in the middle of a pandemic. You cannot walk into a Doctor's surgery without a prior appointment., Why would you think you could walk into veterinary surgery. They do close for lunch but all calls are re-routed to their Midhurst Surgery. Woodlands Vets are superb.

Zoe, I am thinking of changing vets to woodland. Did you have bother at small world, or just fancied a better vet?

Re: Vet surgery recommendations,please!
- Diane (24th Oct 2020 - 21:38:39)

Small world vets have always been there for our cats.

Wow zoe sorry to hear all this, how awful. I've had a small problem which has kinda made me want to move away from them. I have a similar problem, thanks for the reply and glad to hear all is well now.

Sadly, I think there might be one aggrieved person here and I don't think this is the right forum for airing individual gripes. Ed - we should surely be supporting our wonderful local businesses, particularly in these difficult times, rather than letting personal opinions risk their reputations?

I recommend the OP visits each local surgery and picks up the vibes for himself.

Re: Vet surgery recommendations,please!
- Mark Barton (26th Oct 2020 - 11:31:50)

I wanted to mention Small World Vets have been amazing with all of our animals.

We recently had to have our dog Alfie put down and under these difficult circumstances Phil and his team helped enormously.

We recently have a new kitten and we have not hesitated in going back to Small World.

Re: Vet surgery recommendations,please!
- Penny Williamson (26th Oct 2020 - 13:55:47)

I agree with James's post. I think there is a little bit of a vendetta taking place in this Thread. Rob seems to be encouraging Zoe's criticism of Small World Vets, criticism which may or may not be justified. However it smacks to me of a twosome getting together to ruin the reputation of one of our local vets. Possibly a hidden Agenda or an axe to grind. I did actually change from Small World Vets to Woodlands but ONLY because Woodlands offered the package where you pay £12.80 pcm which covers all the health checks, tablets and vaccinations - not of course injury or health issues - and this is much more economical. Whilst I was with Small World Vets I found them to be courteous, caring, respectful and efficient.

Re: Vet surgery recommendations,please!

Zoe yes I did change vets for the reason I have already given and as you so rightly state "You had every right to do this and so did I." The difference between us is I didn't criticise them like you have. Your post was rambling and in one breath you are complimenting Small World Vets and then in another you are saying they were uncaring etc, etc. In conclusion the reason most people say "This is my last post" or something similar is because they have lost the argument. I agree with James this Forum should not be used to ruin reputations.

Can highly recommend Milford vets. 15 mins down A3. V well placed to help with anything serious or non routine, great quality, v caring. Most Liphook vets refer there. Bracycephalic dog breeds can be tricky so this may be a good option for you. All best H

Definitely st.peters in liss/Petersfield, a third cheaper than woodlands in liphook

Re: Vet surgery recommendations,please!
- Kristen (4th Nov 2020 - 18:35:05)

I hear that St.Peters in Petersfield have been taken over and the 2 most favourite and ‘old school’ vets have retired?

Re: Vet surgery recommendations,please!
- Sarah (5th Nov 2020 - 10:00:02)

St Peters is really good, Jonathan and John are still there. All the vets I have seen over the years have been so helpful, caring and they are considerably cheaper than Woodlands and Small World. They also have a branch in Liss so not too far to travel
