Where’s Damien
- Mr. B Hinds (2nd Jun 2020 - 18:55:55)

I assume our local MP is still taking the queens shilling. Where is he, has he a view on anything. Is he hibernating with the PM. Can anybody tell me his views on anything in these unprecedented times.

He on the back benches, along with the majority of MO’s, probably working quite hard so don’t assume that because he’s not on the BBC, Daily Mail or Talkback doesn’t mean he isn’t earning his keep! Have you emailed him directly? He’s a good hard working decent fella, just because he’s a Tory doesn’t mean he’s Boris!

Keeping his head down, like the rest of them. No Tory MP wants the wrath of unelected leader, Mr Cummings

Re: Where’s Damien

Our MPs have scrapped their functioning online voting system in favour of standing in long queues to vote.

Democracy at its finest, with many older MPs simply unable to attend at all.

Damo is wasting his time snaking through the Palace of Westminster with the rest of our fine ‘World beating’ politicians, when they could be actually working. It really does fill you with confidence.

Standing for an hour outside in the rain, when a perfectly adequate virtual voting system is available. It’s part tragedy, part comedy. Keep up the good work everyone.

Where.
Couldn’t agree with you more. Rees- Moggs brainchild has turned this Govt. into a laughing stock around the world. Arch Brexiteer Steve Baker taking photos and saying how ridiculous the queue was. Then votes in favour of the Rees-Mogg motion. Surreal. Hope our Damien didn’t have to queue for too long.

This is an extract from the reply I received on 27th May to my email to Damian Hinds about the Dominic Cummings affair.

"I have received several hundred emails on this subject, and I take very seriously the strength of feeling constituents have expressed to me....

It is clear to me that [Dominic Cummings] actions broke at least the spirit of the regulations, and the interpretation of the regulations made by the vast majority of people in East Hampshire and across Britain.

Many people have suffered terribly in this time, including many who have lost loved ones to the disease, unable even to see them and comfort them at the end. Many, many more have had to make awful personal sacrifices to help bear down on the virus. Crucial to this has been the sense that everyone is in it together and working together. There cannot be one rule for some and another rule for others...

I have put my assessment, and the clear message I have heard from constituents, to the government."

Thanks for sharing your correspondence with us Jen. I’m sure there are many more MP’s in the party that agree with our MP. If only they would lift their heads above the parapet. A spokesman/ woman is needed for the silent majority. Let’s push our Damien to the forefront and become the sensible voice of Conservatism.

I also wrote and got a reply. In my letter I mentioned that I was a key worker in the nhs and the reply I got referred to that.
I was impressed that it wasn’t a one size fits all letter!

Re: Where’s Damien

Where’s Damien , we need you. I can’t believe after all the denials the Govester has given way to the Trumpster over chlorinated chicken. The ‘ you don’t have to buy it ‘ argument doesn’t wash because on pies, ready meals etc they won’t have to show the source. Along with the restrictions on seasonal workers. It’s another kick in the teeth to our farmers. The Conservative party was always a broad church but seems to have become a cabal of four. Letters to Damien, we need him on the case.

Re: Where’s Damien

Agreed. It’s so disappointing that they have done this to the UK farming industry especially given how hard they have worked during this pandemic.

It feels like it was snuck in under the radar while all this is going on and will undoubtedly effect many more food products than just by chlorinating chicken. It will allow much more use of antibiotics and hormones in livestock and pesticides which harm people, animals and bees. All the things which we were told wouldn’t happen.

@Katie - the country voted for Brexit so we have to live with the consequences. We are no longer have the negotiating leverage that we did when we were part of a large trading bloc.
