JOGGERS - keep you distance!
- Dave (8th Apr 2020 - 12:44:44)

It has become apparent that a section of our community think they do not need to adhere to the current need for social distancing.

We all need to exercise and many of us our using the same pavements and footpaths. The vast majority are showing a considerable degree of courtesy and good manners, waiting or moving aside to ensure the recommended two meters distancing is adhered to.

However it seems the jogging community lack these qualities and just barge, hustle or squeeze their way through, often spluttering, exhaling heavily and spraying their sweat over anyone unfortunate to be in their way.

Paris had introduced a daytime ban on jogging as it is clear this group lack consideration or empathy with the rest of the community, this measure should be introduced here!

I have just been out for a walk and saw a number of very courteous joggers, all of them were extremely considerate to other people using the pavements, two even crossed the road to run in long grass to allow us to walk on the pavement.

Another pointless post

No S Dave's post was not another pointless post. He was stating his experience and while you have every right to state your experiences of joggers, he has every right to state his. I too have experienced joggers who do exactly what Dave describes, running up behind you on narrow footpaths, passing within a couple of feet, breathing heavily and sometimes even calling out thereby spraying moisture from their mouths as they pass. I am not saying that all joggers behave like this, I am describing the ones I have encountered and I think you will find I am not the only one. The ones I have encountered show complete disregard for the 2 metre distancing.

Ok Penny, fair enough if that's what you have actually experienced then I can understand your frustration. However, I walk round the village a lot and have run it too and I have never come across a runner who has behaved like this, perhaps I have just been lucky.

" ...passing within a couple of feet, breathing heavily and sometimes even calling out thereby spraying moisture from their mouths as they pass …"

Wow, how very dramatic! How did humans as a species ever survive and flourish in Liphook before 2020!?!!

Paul that is possibly the most stupid and ill advised post I've seen on here in a long time - and that's saying something. Watch the TV news for a bit, read a newspaper and perhaps learn a little about how this virus spreads. Shame on you in these horrendous times.

Had the same experience in Liphook - out for my alloted walk when a jogger squeezes past me on the pavement, huffing and puffing all over me ... ffs

Totally agree with Penny - have come across this both at tracks by Old thorns and Iron Hill. I have stepped back quickly and held my breath but I don't want to be breathed on either! Not been every jogger but at least half the time.

I think this is the same Paul who is blaming the Telephone masts for the virus.

I think he was actually saying there is no virus, it’s 5g making everyone ill. One of his many internet conspiracies posted under different names

I have just returned from a local Covid-19 assessment point.
I can tell you that this virus IS IN OUR AREA and they are seeing a significant increase of cases. I am one cough away from a hospital admission. STAY THE F AT HOME.

Yes it is real, I don’t think anyone of sound mind believes the 5g theory. Get well N, hope you haven’t had to go hospital

- Bored enough to post (9th Apr 2020 - 20:39:58)

Apparently according to new research which has just surfaced on the BBC news website, runners should be 10m away from anyone! Just thought I’d throw that in the mix! Note, I have nothing against runners, if anything I envy them! I’m going to be fat as an old fish after this lockdown!
