Basic driving ability
- Roundabout vigilante (18th Sep 2019 - 20:40:24)

Due to the constant inability to indicate and give way to the right at the roundabouts in the square, I have taken it upon myself to buy a cheap, mot’d, taxed and insured cheap car! The next driver to ignore the Highway Code, I’ll shall drive into you! Have fitted a dash cam so beware!

Are you part of the 'cash for crash' scam? If not, suggest you beware of BMWs. Over the years we have noticed that not all of them appear be fitted with operational orange flashing lights that other cars have when making turns. It must be an expensive option to have them connected.

Other than that, we'll expect to notice you looking for victims in your cheap car while you're doing handbrake turns around Liphook City Centre

Brilliant ! Malicious intent and criminal damage. Up to 5 years in jail and a criminal record. At least it hasn’t been posted on a public forum with IP address and MAC address logged. Oh - wait a minute !

Really hope you don’t have a genuine accident now ! As that would be a little awkward ! 😂

Have a great weekend all - avoiding roundabout numpties and vigilantes !

Cheers, Finchie

Don't agree with original posters proposed methods but do agree with the sentiments. Also beware idiots turning into top of T junction Station Road at busy times trying to complete 180 Degree turn blocking road - NOT CLEVER - nearly took me out - when he forced his car in front of me - as I was waiting to exit behind the car in front of me - Thought I'd seen it all - just 200-300yds could have turned safely in Railway car park!

Whilst were on about driving standards, If you have a Son who drives a silver grey hatchback through Liphook (Headley road) towards Liphook centre at about 6am, tell him he is an idiot for overtaking in a 30mph zone.

Due to the constant inability to indicate and give way to the right at the roundabouts in the square, I have taken it upon myself to take my cheap, mot'd , tax and insured car off the road and surrender my driving licence. I will now be seen walking Liphook and surrounding areas with a dash cam on my forehead. I now have for sale a 30+ year old highway code book if anybody is interested!

Alfredos

Have you missed a trick here?

Apart from how you will power your pedestrianised dash cam, what about your cheap, mot'd , tax and insured car? Instead of taking it off the road, do you not think the original poster is an ideal buyer for it?

I'll watch out for you in the area- I'm guessing that the skull mounted dash cam solar panel power units will be a clue to your identity!

The highway code doesn't support driving into cars not indicating....it says "watch out for all other road users already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signalling correctly or at all". Just take a little more tine and try deep breathing.

Re: Basic driving ability
- k (24th Sep 2019 - 09:34:50)

HIGHWAY CODE also states that you should give way to vehicles to the right on roundabouts (not bludgeon your way on to the roundabout at any cost) and also not to enter unless the exit is clear WIDELY IGNORED BY DRIVERS AROUND LIPHOOK - which adds to the frustration of other drivers.

Please can we all use a little common courtesy & forethought.

k is right. Observe the Highway Code: use indicator, give way to the right, do not enter the mini-roundabout unless your exit is clear, go around the white roundabout.
That way more than one car - three even - can use each mini-roundabout, the mini-roundabouts maintain efficiency and traffic keeps moving.
If these Highway Code points are not observed, efficiency of the mini-roundabouts reduces, traffic & driver frustration build up, and efficiency reduces - collapsing to zero, no traffic movement at all, when driver frustration has lead to one or all the mini roundabouts becoming blockaded with vehicles and no one goes anywhere.

MikeT
Mr Roundabout Vigilante is a person I would not sell my cheap, mot'd, now untaxed and uninsured car to as I do not in anyway support his intention of pursuing drivers in the manner he intends in a cheap, mot'd, taxed and insured car who have the constant inability to indicate and give way to the right at roundabouts.
I would like to urge Mr Roundabout Vigilante to reconsider his intention and think of other appropriate actions if possible. Maybe a weekend campaign distributing leaflets to drivers local to the area in shopping locations etc might be more appropriate, he could wear Hi visibility clothing like a lollipop person and even get a lollipop and replace the word STOP on his lollipop with something else, maybe the Liphook talkback community could help with suggestions of a stand out word for him and his lollipop.
As for my forehead cam, I like to be up to date with the latest in technology if I can afford this luxury so I decided against the solar panel power unit model and purchased one powered by a single CR2032 lithium button cell battery, I can get a full 12 hours of recorded footage with it the man at the Car boot sale said.
30+ year old highway code book is still available!

Mini roundabouts are a grey area, according to a police drivers fast response instructor. Yes, you give way to the right. But if you are waiting at the roundabout to go and someone is only approaching the junction from the right, you should be able to go.
