Does anyone have an idea where I can go to get my ears syringed to remove ear wax? I used to go to my surgery regularly for treatment but they have now stopped doing this service. I’ve used Otex, etc, for the prescribed time but to no avail. I’d be happy to go privately somewhere but don’t know where to go. Any ideas gratefully received.

Good morning,
An advice from NHS choices website(when you have tried everything else):
"Call 111:
If you can't speak to your GP and don't know what to do next."
Hope that will help and good luck :)

Specsavers now offer this service but you do have to pay.
I think it's quite rare to get this done on the NHS now hence lots of other companies offering the service.

Many thanks for these ideas. I knew Liphook would come up with an answer. I will follow up and hope to be able to hear soon. I particularly like the idea of Dynarod!

We always go to the Clean Ear Clinic at Port Way - they are changing their name to Just Ears from the 1st July and along with the new name they have a new number 03455 27 27 27.
They are first class, much safer for the ears than the older methods that were used in the surgery until recently. Lots of parking and relatively easy to get to.

I'd be very wary of "ear candling" - at best it's ineffective and at worst it actually deposits candle wax into the ear causing injury.
I used at the nurse's advice sodium bicarbonate drops - about £2.50 from LLoyds chemist , worked better than otex.
My Dad goes to Leighton Opticians in Haslemere i think £35 per ear.

Although this thread was a few months ago I thought that there maybe a few of you still wanting assistance with blocked ears. I actually went to a lovely lady called Jaine Walker yesterday who used Micro-suction. I had both ears treated even though it costs £40 per ear the results are marvellous as my ears had been blocked for several weeks and struggled to get an appointment anywhere. She is a fully qualified Audiologist and visits the Grange Petersfield and can be contacted on 07598 303877. Hope this helps.
