Abandoned Vehicle Portsmouth Road
- Paul Robinson (13th Jun 2019 - 10:47:49)

There is a Mazda MX5 registration number AR51 DCZ silver soft top sports car that has not moved from this spot on the Portsmouth Road close to Fletchers Field for over three months and now sits in a pile of accumulated rubbish sporting a healthy crop of leaves and dirt.

I telephoned 101 to report this and after a seventeen minute wait I was informed that the car was taxed and MOT'd and so was of no interest to the police.

I was then told that unless the vehicle had been stolen or used in a crime the police were powerless to get the vehicle removed and that it was entitled to be left on the highway until such time as the tax or MOT runs out.

The displacement parking by commuters in this spot is bad enough without the problem of abandoned vehicles.

Paul, perhaps it belongs to someone who lives along that bit of road - if it`s taxed etc it is ok to be parked there!

Top down with wind and rain in the hair. You can’t beat a good old MX5 in Summer. Mines a god send as the wife won’t ride in her after the wig was taken away by a passing bus. Now I get peace and quite while i ride along listening to Radio 4 👍

This car was being removed today at around 07:00. The reason, for it having been left there, aparently, was due to it having no working clutch.
