Greek Restaurant

Can anyone recommend a decent Greek restaurant within reasonable distance of Liphook please.

Not precisely a “Greek Restaurant” it does have tables but is more of takeout, the Greco Grill in Lindford near Bordon does authentic Greek gyros with proper Greek pita as well as salads and a few other dishes.

The staff is a Greek family and my Greek friends rate it very highly.

Well, we learn something new every day!

Thanks for posting this, I've just read the reviews - all very good. Will definitely try it out now - had never even heard of it before.

thanks

It’s not Greek but Mediterranean food.. fez in Petersfield is very nice. Not the cheapest but good food and friendly service.

Fez in Petersfield is Turkish, regrettably NOT Greek, and sadly does not cover the mediterranean cuisine.
Not enough European restaurants around.

Went with my Mum today.

They have a traditional Greek Menu of starters and mains along with regular charcoal cooked food and burgers.

From the Greek Appetisers: we had Keftedes and Haloumi Saganaki
I had a Chicken Greek Gryos and Mum had a Kleftiko.

food was lovely.

However - the whole place is in the process of being re-clad on the outside. Not just the Greco Grill but all the premises on the estate. So it looks terrible from the outside. Not a salubrious environment with cars dumped all over the place outside but good honest Greek food all homemade.

Had to go in and try it seeing as it is on the doorstep and I'd never even heard of it! It got a big thumbs up from both of us, it's basic but delicious.

We also went to the Greco Grill today having read the reviews – pork gyros were lovely. Not quite like being on a Greek holiday but it cheered us on a dark foggy evening.
They do delivery too. Menu says website to order online is grecogrill.yatakeaway.com
We will definitely go back.

Having read all the rave reviews on Talkback my wife and I tried Greco Grill this evening.
We were not disappointed in fact we were very impressed the only downside was having to pay for delivery most takeaways that deliver make no charge.

Any feedback?

d and John - do you both work for Greco Grill? Undoubtedly this place sounds very good and I will definitely give it a try but the cynic in me also suspects this could be a bit of staged internet question and answer to get a bit of advertising.

Sorry to disappoint but my original post was a genuine enquiry. I have still not visited Grecco but will let you know my opinion when I have done so,

Re: Greek Restaurant

Even if it were a staged question, I'm glad to have been pointed in that direction. Definitely more of a takeaway as opposed to a restaurant but good food and very friendly staff/owners.

Now that’s cynical !

No I dont work for Greco grill, I answered a question with my own opinion, and if the original poster isn’t legit then they have played a blinder in terms of reverse psychology as it could easily have incited negative responses, so I think you’re wrong to suggest this is some sort of setup.

I think your just too cynical and I think all the responses here including the reviews mentioned online represent what I also think of the Greco grill. I have eaten plenty of Greek food and thought I’d try it after driving past so many times, admittedly I have yet to have anything other than the Giros as they are so bloody great!

In the interests of fairness there is another Greek takeaway in Guildford called Meat the Greek, until I found the Greco grill that’s how I used to get my giros fix :)

I can report good things back about the greek food at the Fox lower Bourne. The new owners have only been in situ for 2 weeks and the place was packed this eve.
Had the full meze and it was lovely. Home made taramasalata is the mark of a good place and the seafood course was swordfish, giant grilled prawns and calamares. Apparently the fish is direct from Billingsgate. It is a full greek menu with plenty of choice, home made Baklava as dessert.
