Trains today [Monday 19th]
- Dawn Hoskins (19th Nov 2018 - 15:50:40)

Are the trains back up and running?
I need to get to Guildford for about 5pm,

Anyone know?
If not - is anyone driving to Guildford this afternoon that wants to give me a lift.......

Yes SWR have failed again what a complete shower.

Before people chip in with it's network rail fault the lines were open at 1000 and 8 hrs later still chaos.

It proves my earlier post that getting rid of the experienced staff at waterloo and setting up a new control room with inexperienced people was the hight of incompetence.

As the saying goes they don't know their a*** from their elbow. Perhaps if i send them a picture of my a*** and elbow clearly labelled it may help them.

Was extremely noticeable how easy the flow of traffic was on Portsmouth Road without the usual Commuter parking blocking the road - back to usual today Tuesday though!!

What surprised me the most was the complete unavailability of alternative transport. Normally a replacement bus service is laid on - which although it is a chore - at least it gets you there.

Bloody sod's law. The one night out we've had in Guildford for ages, pre-show dinner table booked for 5.30 at Bill's in Angel Gate (lovely food according to the party members who made it).

I did get to there in the end. The 4:09 arrived at 'twenty to six' and stopped at every station going very slowly - much slower than usual. There was no information online at all other than a notice saying there would be severe disruption all day.

I hope for all the regular commuters that everything is back to normal today.

I get the train to and from Godalming for work every day, and yes, SWR are unreliable and it makes my life very difficult sometimes, but I do want to take a minute to say something positive.

The station manager, Sue, who is on duty every morning, is not only a credit to SWR, but also to Liphook. Throughout the strikes, she puts up altered train times on the wall for the next day, so people can plan, but on Monday she really came into her element. Having to deal with the absolute chaos and lack of communication from the rest of SWR on her own, she did her absolute best to try and get people to their destinations, helping arrange lift shares, taxis to Haslemere when at the last minute they decided not to stop at Liphook and kept everyone as informed as possible (not easy as SWR kept hanging up on her).

While this day was chaos for commuters, it must have been ten times worse for her, and she did her best to get people's days on track, so would be good to recognise these efforts.

Well said Grace.
