A Tale of Three Tescos
- Yikes! (20th Sep 2018 - 13:19:00)
For all of you who might be shopping at Tesco - and a cautionary tale for anyone else - more proof that big business really does take the Michael in how it deals with people from areas it perceives to be 'wealthier' than others.
In Haslemere and Petersfield Tesco stores tubs of sweets are £5 each. In Bordon the same tubs are 2 for £7.
In Haslemere and Petersfield the biggish red box of Family Circle biscuits are £4 each, in Bordon they are £2.
Unethical in so many ways.

Tesco's Haslemere were the same deal as Bordon on Tuesday, so maybe their sign has blown away!

Sales prices can vary from store to store and per customer. Tesco's uses sales data to inform it's pricing structure and was actually one of the first companies to use big data analysis in order to better inform pricing decisions, through the use of its clubcard programme.
Pricing variance is now well documented and whilst seemingly based on geography, you should not mistake correlation for causation.

Unless Tesco's are committed to even pricing throughout its geographical range (I don't know):
What ever happened to free market economy? Supply and demand? Market forces?
Nothing wrong with a business pricing their merchandise according to whatever customers are willing and able to pay. Show me one grocery business that does not follow this logic.
We are fortunate to have the choice.

Tesco may have been late in taking the promotional price tickets down! this happens in all shops.

And you’re just finding this out now? Stores do it, Politicians do it, even newspapers do it. There are dozens if not hundreds of proven examples of how the same headline photo from the same newspaper has a different story to suit a different region in order to sell.
The supermarkets have refined this macro victim set up to make prices reflect local affordability, its not even that difficult. Its basically store client postcode against margin.
If you wanna save money go to a place that's cheap, as long as the price of getting there is less than you save then quids in.
If you can afford to live in Haslemere (Note that Hammer and Snottermill are pretend Haslemere, sorry cant be helped you paid the premium yet are not Haslemere) then your going to get taxed by big business as big business are constantly correlating your income against what they think they can charge you :)
