Sun Club Open Weekend
- Barry (6th Jul 2018 - 13:23:39)

Your local Naturist Club in Headley Down – is called Sunny Acres.

It’s the ‘Annual Open Weekend’ on 21st -22nd July and the club is open FREE OF CHARGE. If you’ve never visited a naturist club before, and want to find out what it’s all about, this is your ideal opportunity.
Sunny Acres is a relaxed family-friendly environment.

It is a green and leafy haven set on a beautiful hillside with stunning plants, trees and shrubs. There is a children’s play area, boules (Pétanque) court, outside tables for alfresco dining, badminton / volleyball court, lawn chess and a fabulous clubhouse with a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of tables and chairs for eating your home-cooked meals inside (and built in BBQ’s if you want to cook outside).

The heated pool is a must for all, with children’s slide and lots of fun inflatables. We have inside and outside showers, changing room, and nestled in amongst the foliage around the perimeter of the club grounds are the delightful ‘glamping’ chalets where members can escape from the hustle and bustle of normal life.

We are hosting a competitive volleyball tournament for the open weekend and also have a body painting artist coming to create walking works of art! Noah’s Ark (a naturist swimming group) will also be visiting us over the weekend for a dip in our fabulous heated pool. Come and join the fun – you can be as active as you like – or just fall asleep on a sunbed!

At 6pm on Saturday you can join the feast at our mammoth BBQ. This is £10 per person (please let us know in advance). We are truly a friendly group of people and we look forward to welcoming you to our amazing naturist environment. From babies to pensioners you are all equally welcome.

Sounds like a fun time.
Your members are obviously used to being as nature intended, but those of us to whom your posting is addressed will obviously need to pluck up a fair bit of courage before being thrown in at the deep end of your heated pool!

Not being a voyeur, is this taken into consideration as you obviously have new members in mind?

Hi Boris
The club is very sensitive to people dipping their toe into naturism for the first time.

Often people have encountered it on holiday and found it liberating but then don't have anywhere to go when they return to blighty.

HSC has been around for over 70 years and the members are a very friendly and supportive bunch.

have a look at the facebook page and the website if you need more information.

The open weekend is a good opportunity to have a look around the club and see if it is for you or not. If you don't like it - go. If you do - stay. No obligation on anyone - although please let us know if you're staying for the BBQ on Saturday night.

Was going to say “packing my budgie smugglers as we speak”, but I don’t need too !

Excellent inititiative. We need more of them.

“I’ll do anything for a free lunch” Finchie
PS whatever happened to Fabuliss ?!

Finchie
And a brief overview for those who don’t know)

Fabuliss was a transgender support and social group, run by Linda and Mark Bryant. It used to take place at the Millennium Hall and did so for a long time with no complaint until they were the centre of a controversy led by a disgusting and salacious story in The Mail.

Mr and Mrs Bryant made an official complaint to the Press Complaints Commission who confirmed that the story (which resulted in Mr Bryant being stalked outside his house and ‘outed’) was given by 2 parish councilors.

The LGBT community is a protected one. Mr and Mrs Bryant should have had the protection of the Parish Council, instead, this reprehensible behaviour ruined their lives.

The Parish Councillors at the time knew who the guilty parties were, but when Mrs Bryant came to the monthly meeting to ask them directly to own up – they wouldn’t admit to it.

Cowardly weren’t they!

Many in the LGBT community went in secrecy and were not ‘out’ to their friends or family - so they could no longer attend becuase the risk of being publically outed was too great.

The contemptible behaviour of those councilors meant that their support network closed down and not too long after this, sadly Linda Bryant died of cancer.

As a few years have passed – perhaps they are brave enough to own up to their actions now?!

So, Finchie
Perhaps we will see you there!

Re: Sun Club Open Weekend
- Barry (19th Jul 2018 - 10:31:23)

If you plan to attend please send your details to socials@sunnyacres.co.uk

Please also tell us if you are having the BBQ on Saturday (£10 per head) as we need to know numbers for catering.

We have a signing in procedure on the gate so we know who is in attendance over the weekend, so please bring a photo ID so that we can verify your identity.

Parking can be a little tight and you may have to park along the Pond Road depending on how full the car park is.

I am sorry but in this day and age when CRB checks are needed to work with kids you're seriously inviting anyone who reads your post to pop along with their family, kids in tow, completely naked without checking who these people are ?

Re: Sun Club Open Weekend

A. Working with children is one thing, relaxing with your family in an open environment is completely a different thing. Naturists are not perverts - they don't objectify bodies or see human bodies as sex objects in any way. Only people that view human as sex objects, such as non-naturists, worry about bodies in this way.

Many non-naturists throw their arms up in horror at the thought of their child seeing human bodies, mainly because they have bought into the media led sexualisation of women, which has produced a generation of youth with low self-image, who body shame others, fat shame people for wearing clothes that don't 'suit' them, have increasing levels of eating disorders and mental disorders relating to body image and higher levels of plastic surgery as they have spent their lives wishing for someone else's legs, or bottom, or lips - always aiming for this media-driven airbrushed image of 'perfect'.

I can tell you that children have no view at all on body parts whether they are arms. legs, feet or any other bits. They only care if you are nice or nasty, and whether you are nice or nasty is not governed by the human body that you are walking around in. The VAST majority of perverts etc are family members or those close to your children (uncles, brothers, nephews, granddads, even fathers) and the reason CRB checks have to happen is that these hideous people target particular jobs like scoutmasters, carers, priests etc.

They aim for these positions expressly to abuse youngsters. The only reason they get away with abuse is because they hide behind closed doors, operate in total secrecy, no one (apart from the victim) can see what they are getting up to in their hideaways.

The EXACT opposite is true in a naturist community. Everything is visible. You could not get two more diametrically opposed groups of people and anyone 'getting off' would be dealt with most harshly - because it would be visible to all immediately.

Non-naturists who are horrified by the thought of human bodies and hide themselves away because they have been objectified (and therefore pass on the same values to their children) are often the very same people who allow said uncle, nephew etc help with childcare, babysitting etc and statistical evidence shows that that is where the danger lies - not when you are wandering around OPEN lawns and gardens and all of your actions (and reactions) are visible.

I am the child of naturist parents and could not have grown up amongst better more caring people. On the other hand, I was not allowed to go to brownie camp etc as it was too dangerous!

If you would like to get lots of facts and figures you could start with BN (British Naturism) who are the governing authority to which the many hundreds of naturist societies in the UK belong. Haslemere Sun Club does have strict ID checks, checkable against a BN blacklist and also has all the prerequisite safeguarding officers etc.

Naturism is not against the law, how could you make a human body illegal? The human body is not seedy or lewd and in all my life, growing up as a child of naturist parents, I have never met a seedy person or even heard of seedy incidents. I have however grown up fully accepting who I am as a human being and understanding that what is on the outside of people does not reflect what is on the inside.

When you fully accept yourself you are far more able to accept others without judgment and this is a naturist trait. For example, you will meet far more disabled people in naturist environments as they get stared at and remarked upon on 'normal' beaches and swimming pools where people are very harsh, non-accepting and judgmental of anything that is not 'perfect'.

Sorry for my long and rambling post but it upsets me when people can't separate sex and human bodies. If we accept that human bodies are entirely natural things and not sex objects we should also be able to accept that age has no bearing or behaviour. I don't react differently to a child or a grownup because they are walking around in the skin they were given - I react to who they are as people.

Please don't judge naturists by non-naturist standards (the body ogglers and wolf-whistlers) - they aren't naturists.

I hope you had a good turnout for your open day - sadly I had other prior commitments - maybe next time.
