Delayed South west Trains

Yet again my train was delayed again today 35Mins today. Can i remind and urge all rail users to claim compensation for any delays over 15 mins, using Delay15 on their website.
The individual amount may be small but they all add up and if we all start claiming the company will have to get their act together as profits are the only thing they care about.

I claimed for a delay back in December when there was a fire outside of Waterloo. I got to Waterloo at 4.15pm and finally got to Haslemere at 7.15pm having got a taxi to Clapham Junction as Waterloo was massively overcrowded. There was no information about trains arriving or leaving at Waterloo and the member of staff I asked said they had no information available either. So I put in a claim.

Last week, had an l to say that the claim had been rejected because they "THINK" I was on the 5.00pm train which left Waterloo at 5.01pm and arrived at Haslemere 1 minute early.

It would therefore seem that they are able to assume everyone in the concourse at the time was able to board the one train that left in a reasonable time even though I was no longer at Waterloo and no information was available to say that the train would be leaving anyway. They're basically calling me a liar and will have sent similar responses to anyone claiming for the delays if they were at Waterloo at roughly the time that train left. Whether they were able to get on the train or not.

If only there was a viable alternative commuting method.

I'm no fan of SWR, but I claimed for the 10:09 into Waterloo - we were 17 mins late. Got 12.5% of my fare back without any problems.

They'll look back at what actually happened on that day and if there was a delay or cancellation, then they have no excuse not to pay.

In my example, they are ASSUMING I was on a train. As long as a train leaves from the station concerned in a similar timeframe to what you intended they will assume you would have been able to get on it. Even if there were 3000 people trying to get on a train with 500 spaces you're stuffed even if you're one of the 2500 who could not physically get on the train. Even if no information was provided that the train itself was available, what platform it was leaving on or what its destination was. But a train left at a similar time and I could have been on it so I get no refund.
