Bramshott Hauntings
- Geraldine Adams (16th Nov 2017 - 14:38:30)

I just read an old posting about hauntings in Bramshott and Adams Cottage is mentioned in Church Lane is mentioned as one of the most haunted houses.

I actually lived in that house for 18 months, I wondered why everyone kept laughing when I mentioned where I was living. At that time I had no knowledge of the history of hauntings in Bramshott..

Now I know why the person who lived in the house before me left after 6 months! Shall we say it started on day one and progressed it was so bad we were planning to move out and rent another property..

Just wondered if anyone else has lived in the house or experienced anything whilst living in the area..

I know several people who claim to have seen the ghost of the gardener in a green cloak by the gate. Even my aunt claimed to have seen him which was odd as she was very down to earth and not prone to imagining things!

Yes, I have heard about its spectral reputation!

Would be nice if you could post more details about your experiences in the house and what you witnessed. I'm sure other posters on here would love to hear about it. Fascinating stuff!

Hi Geraldine
I live in Bramshott also, have for 12 years but never seen any of the reported ghosts.
Can I ask, do you still live at the house?
Would you be willing to let a ghost hunting team in for a night?
Thanks

Please check the book "Ghosts of East Hampshire" by Adam Carew (lives in Whitehill) which details all of the Bramshott ghosts, you can buy it in Bordon Library and other local shops.

Hi. I lived in liphook during the 70’s and 80’s. Bramshott was infamous for its ghosts. I believe that Boris Karloff, the quintessential Frankenstein monster, fittingly lived in the house in the middle of the road.

Boris Karloff was, by all accounts, a good egg. He paid for the renovation of the bells in St Mary's Bramshott, and lived in 'Roundabout' at the junction of Church Lane and Tunbridge Lane.

He loved cricket and gardening and all things British. His real name was William Pratt, which makes him a little less scary ....

If his ghost haunts Bramshott, it would be a pleasure and honour to meet him / it !

Calum MacCrimmon I remember you from the early 1980s and was a friend of Kirsty while she was at college. Please contact me, I'd love to know how you all are!

I remember Boris Karloff's wife very well (please remember that was not his real name) and I'm sure it was she who paid for the renovation of the bell frames (not the bells) some time after her husband had passed on. I remember bumping into her many times while out shopping with my mother though I don't remember meeting Boris Karloff once, but they did have a house in California (I think) as well so maybe he worked over there a lot. They chose to live in Bramshott as it was believed to be a place of "high paranormal activity" as did the author of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who lived in Hindhead. He lived just before the traffic lights on the right (Undershaw House).
