Pooh sticks bridge in Radford Park
- Gillian Morgan (4th Mar 2017 - 18:08:34)

Is anyone else really upset about the demolition of this beautiful little bridge? I have been told that the council won't pay for its repair 😢

A post on Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council's Facebook page.

NOTIFICATION OF BRIDGE CLOSURE AT RADFORD PARK
Following an inspection of the wooden bridge in Radford Park it has had to be closed to public use.

The bridge was constructed over 30 years ago by a team which included one of our current ground staff. It is made entirely of wood and sadly, over the years the wooden struts and supports have started to rot rendering it unsafe to use.

The Parish Council is looking to replace the bridge and is currently exploring various options.

The Parish Council will keep you up to date with proceedings.

It is a sad state of affairs that such an expensive and pointless decision was made. I used that bridge very often indeed and it was very sturdy. Wood in contact with water and air will rot from the moment it is put in place, but it can last many more years than 30 and even then, just specific areas of rot can be repaired.
