Panther in Liphook ?
- B (29th Mar 2013 - 07:12:54)

Just came off A3 Griggs Green junction heading to Liphook when we had to stop quickly because something was in the road. We could not believe our eyes it was a very large black cat and I mean large. Me and my partner were gobsmacked when it just sat there and stared at us for probably 30 seconds before walking off very slowly into the bushes. When we returned home we looked at images on Google and It can only be described as a Puma or Panther.

Has anyone else ever seen or heard of a large cat in the area?

See Big black cat seen last February.

Did not think of date at the time if you are pointing towards April fools day.

Any other serious responses welcome!

I saw something similar a couple of years ago, crossing the A325 between the A3 and Greatham turn off.

I've just seen him in my garden!
He had terrible tusks and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws. He had knobbly knees, and turned-out toes and a poisonous wart at the end of his nose. His eyes were orange his tongue was black, he had purple prickles all over his back...
Oh help, oh no!, it could only be.....
...the neighbours cat. Phew!

im not disputing the fact that there maybe a Panther, in the area, after all, over the years there have been, many sightings, in both Hampshire and Surrey!

But surely there would be some sort of evidence, of such an animal!??
animal carcasses?
footprints?
photos even?

about 15 years ago as I drove my lorry through the Bullington Cross section a Panther began to walk across the road, stopped and calmly turned to look at me through the windscreen then walked in a westerly direction.
Because I have begun writing of my experiences on the road,I want to have confirmation from others that I really did see the Panther. Can you provide any?

It may interest you to know that one of my experiences; 3 lorries mangled together on lonely back road from Oxford at a time when there was no simple means of communication.

Look forward to hearing from you
Tom

I take my dog for a walk at the back of a3 shell garage on the field and I swear I see few black Panther cats there and I have seen a small puma like a small cat but abit bigger at old thorns woodland area. This has been known around the Hampshire area as few years back ago in petersfield post a man had photograph evidence that he saw a black cat. And it is known many years ago the rich use to keep pumas and panthers in cages as well as monkeys etc and when the new law came out some people just let them out so they wouldn't get a fine and many have breed and that's why a few people have spotted them but would be nice to catch them and put in the zoo :)

Blimey - It ran right in front of me - MASSIVE CAT LIKE CREATURE... Zoomed across the road into Radford Park... Not a fox, Not a Dog - 100% BIG CAT - \"The Beast of Radford\" strikes again.

Anyone else encountered this beast ?

It had no tail !!

Here is a picture of a panther:

And here is a picture of a Main Coon, albeit Gingery and with a tail.

And another Main Coon but tailless...

I think that what we have in Liphook may be a feral Main Coon.
