Liphook Valet Services - Karin Lauritzen (8th Feb 2023 18:14:28)
Hi, I am having some difficulties with Liphook Valet Services and was wondering if anybody have had similar experiences?
They cleaned two suits belonging to my grandson, both jackets was damaged and needed to be replaced. Liphook Valet Services say the damage has nothing to do with them?

Another local business being publicly hung out to dry with no burden of proof required. Possibly true but equally possibly false. Either way damaging to the business. This is not right. At least on tripadvisor and ‘official’ review sites there is an appeal process, not here, sling the mud and that’s it.

Yes indeed we did. We took in an expensive pair of curtains together with manufacturer’s care instructions. The curtains then disappeared and they couldn’t tell where they were but suddenly after 5 long weeks they turned up at the shop.
On collection they were thoroughly inspected in the shop and both curtains had been extensively damaged.
They denied it was anything they had done and suggested that if we wanted to make a fuss about it we should send the curtains to an independent laboratory for testing. We did that and this confirmed that damage had been caused by a dry cleaning process.
Liphook Valet rejected this and then took the stance that they hadn’t cleaned them at all and they must have been damaged during a prior cleaning process. This was the first time they had been cleaned.
Unfortunately, they were not part of any professional or trade body which would have given us a route to progress this and by not being part of such an organisation they did not have to have a formal complaints process.
They were a complete nightmare to deal with and have not used them since.

I disagree Ian if you receive poor service then you have the right to complain. The op tried to reason with the business but came up short. If you run a business serving the public and more importantly the local community then you must be 100% or you run into trouble. The only way is to sit down with the customer and come to an agreement it may mean you having to compromise and cost you a lot of money but your reputation is more important. That’s what I found and 40 years later I think I was right.

Having known the original poster of this entry for several decades I can assure you that she is not the kind of person who would fabricate an issue such as this.
As an open site, we all enjoy the benefit of being able to post questions regarding the local community in all it's guises as is obvious from the broad spectrum of topics which appear.
The editor does of course have the ability to omit entries which could be construed as defamatory or inappropriate, which in this case he obviously does not.
