Fireworks
- Dave mcgrath (16th Feb 2019  20:07:52)

Well done the idiots that decided to let off fireworks at 7.3opm tonight, bonfire night is November 5ths no thought for anyone’s animals or livestock! At least on bonfire night or carnival night animal owners are prepared hope you are proud of yourselves you thoughtless idiots!

Maybe it was someones birthday and therefore they were celebrating. Don't be so abusive Dave, and lighten up a bit for petes sake

What a ridiculous post! Every time someone dares to let off fireworks some intolerant old grump gets straight on to talkback to have moan. For goodness sake, stop being so selfish. Fireworks are not illegal or restricted to just bonfire or carnival night ( the world is a bigger place than Liphook Dave!!) and if you have pets you just have to accept these things happen. Presumably the loud artillery booms this morning will also have people moaning and that's been happening for decades!

your quite right Dave !

the damn house almost shook - people are so inconsiderate .

Hey chill all, yes I have a pet who hates fireworks but whilst firework night is 5th Nov. Let's not forget people celebrate weddings birthdays and even the loss of a family member by setting off a few fireworks. Liphook is a growing village and I too like it for its quirky quietness it's nice too that just sometimes things like this make you realise there are others living here who do things and enjoy things in different ways. So providing it's done in moderation let people enjoy themselves.

Well, very sorry I DARED to complain about the noise from the fireworks the other night, the sooner they restrict the sale of the bloody things to licensed organisations the better as far as I am concerned! Our dogs shat themselves when that lot went off without any warning, we didn’t get a chance to protect them, what is it about people and loud bangs! It amazes me that the general public in this day and age have access to explosives! I am not a kill joy just think the time has come to ban the sale of them to all and sundry. This is my last comment on this subject , berate me all you like I am entitled to my opinion.

- Megan simmonds (18th Feb 2019  15:03:40)

I do have to agree with dave. I have dogs + livestock. We live in the countryside so lots of livestock get affected by not regular noise. Normally its common sense to just give a public heads up so livestock can be sorted. Also a couple of fireworks is differnt to what those were! I understand people wanting to set them of but just be considerate and let people know especially around here with all the livestock. It really isnt difficult. People normally give me a heads up and thats just peoples little garden ones.

Well done Megan for speaking out!

Re: Fireworks
- Mandy (18th Feb 2019  21:55:35)

Well done Megan, I agree. It doesn't take much to let people know that you are going to let off fireworks. Most people like to see them but unfortunately animals don't feel the same way! Nobody likes to see animals scared and if owners have previous warning they can do something to help them. Well done to the football club, but a little bit of thought from them would have been appreciated by many local residents.

Dave, Megan, mandy,,,,,,,,, ugm close link there hehe... Say no more.

Re: Fireworks
- Megan simmonds (20th Feb 2019  17:27:04)

Yes? Your point being? We have the same views because we all have livestock, not any other reason. So i feel that comment is slightly irrelevant. ( person who cannot say there name?) my livestock is a 1 min walk from those fireworks, they were very distressed. Luckily none of the livestock was pregnant, nor with young, as that would of been more serious! As i said previous, i understand people wanting to celebrate and have fireworks, but just let people know , it would of caused a lot less upset and any injurys!

Re: Fireworks
- Dave mcgrath (20th Feb 2019  21:31:28)

Ok,! Dubious!
What’s your point. Or is it a crime to lookout for your pets and livestock? If you haven’t the b——-s to put your real name against your post then your opinion doesn’t count in my book!

Re: Fireworks
- Ian (21st Feb 2019  08:27:40)

Dave, thought you had promised that your previous comment was you last?

Think this issue has been blown out of all proportion. Not a big fan of fireworks, especially Old Thorns which can be late at night but this lot was quite early and also very brief.

Re: Fireworks
- Penny (21st Feb 2019  12:57:56)

Ian, what part of Megan’s very sensible post did you not understand? Quote from Megan's post “I understand people wanting to set them of but just be considerate and let people know especially around here with all the livestock. It really isn’t difficult.” Ian, it is not about when people let them off – the animals are just as frightened by fireworks at 4pm as they would be at 9 pm – it is about having the courtesy and consideration in letting people know, particularly people with livestock, that you will be setting off fireworks. As to your nit- picking comment “Dave, thought you had promised that your previous comment was you last?” with a question mark when there was no question, it was at best unnecessary and at worst just rude. I expect Dave McGrath was so incensed by the very unintelligent posts on here he felt he had to comment. To your comment that you felt that this issue had blown up out of all proportion I would say that you have obviously never seen an animal terrified of firework noise. I have and it is horrible. Of course there are times when people feel the need to let off fireworks to celebrate something (I myself have never felt that need but accept some people do) just let people who live around you know in advance – its not rocket science – a few notes through doors perhaps.

Re: Fireworks
- RC (21st Feb 2019  14:42:39)

......actually I think where fireworks are concerned it IS rocket science.
