Traffic speed repeater - D (15th Feb 2019 05:13:25)
Why has either the EHDC or local council decided to put a traffic repeater along Headley Rd just beyond the fish and chip shop? There’s usually the semi perminent parked cars there anyway, which is a natural traffic calmer. Surely it would be better placed at the entrance to the village or prior to the pedestrian crossing near The Avenue?

Because it's a repeater. Put approx mid way through the 30mph limit. The edge of the village is already signed 30mph.
It shouldn't actually be there at all because you shouldn't put repeaters within a street lit 30mph limit. But sometimes mistakes are made. The 20mph signs were changed a few years ago because they were wrong.
I'll ask the council to remove it if you like?

What is a traffic speed repeater?
Is it one of those signs that light up when a vehicle is travelling over the speed limit?

No, no. Just a smaller version of a signed speed limit sign, to remind people of the limit, whilst within the limit.
The rules for a 30mph are kind of similar to a National Speed Limit. When going down country roads with a NSL, you don't get repeaters.
