Toy Appeal finished

96.4 Eagle Radio’s Christmas Toy Appeal has finished and over 2,600 toys in total were collected this year.

Hundreds of less fortunate children across Surrey and Hampshire have been given toys in time for Christmas, all from the generosity of Eagle Radio’s listeners. Libraries across the area were used as drop off points.

Over several days the toys were collected over the Christmas period and have all been distributed with the help of Cranleigh Freight Services and local social services.

Breakfast Bev from the Breakfast Show and Sue from Squires Garden Centres, paid a special visit to the Loseley Fields Sure Start Children’s Centre, Young Parents Group Christmas Lunch in Godalming with a box full of toys. Family services at Loseley Field’s Children’s Centre offer a variety of groups, courses and individual support. They have various groups where the toys will go to (including Family Links Parenting programme and workshops), as well as using a Children’s Centre mobile unit to visit communities in the surrounding area for struggling families.

Amanda Blood, who is the Family Services Co-ordinator at the Children’s Centre was grateful in receiving the toys, “We really do appreciate the kindness of those who have donated. Some of the families that we support will be experiencing extreme financial hardship or struggling to overcome strains in their lives. The gifts that they receive will enable them to enjoy and share in the excitement of Christmas this year.”

Other charities that have benefited are CHASE Children hospice in Guildford, Hascombe Children's Ward in the Royal Surrey hospital, InTouch in Alton and many more.

96.4 Eagle Radio would like to thank anyone who donated any toys to the appeal.
