Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Roger Miller (24th Mar 2024 - 13:28:48)

All

You may have heard that Hampshire County Council have proposed that the Household Waste Transfer Stations at Bordon and Petersfield are being considered for closure.
If this occurs, the risk of fly tipping in the countryside through which we enjoy driving, cycling or walking will substantially increase.

I have signed the petition on the link below, objecting to this proposal.

Signed petition but would also recommend adding views here to the future services consultation. It closes on 31 March.

Spot on Roger perhaps our district and county councillors could voice their concerns and support the community.

Still time to sign!

It makes more sense to put individual views onto the official HCC website a petition will only count as one objection. It is probably advisable to do both. Hopefully the right council official at Winchester will receive the petition.

- Bob (26th Mar 2024 - 20:58:44)

Oh Joe, council officials don’t have any common sense so I wouldn’t rely on them joining up the dots or we’ll all be driving to Southampton port for our recycling!!
They still carry out training on how to use the kettle at the Petersfield council offices.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Steve (26th Mar 2024 - 21:29:11)

I believe a good old fashioned brown envelope for our local councillor will keep Bordon recycling centre open. Veolia clearly aren’t opposed to sorting out our local councillors. How else did they hang to the contract when it was up for renewal given the unbelievable poor service they provided in by lead up to the renewal negotiations. There’s been so much incompetence under the cover of Covid!!

Thanks Roger and Caroline. Done both 👍.

Bob Petersfield Council Offices close tomorrow, Thursday.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (27th Mar 2024 - 10:23:06)

Steve What leads you to believe that a good old fashioned brown envelope for our local councillor will keep Bordon recycling centre open other than the fact that, in spite of the incompetence of Veolia, they kept their contract and do you have an evidence/proof of this? To accuse a councillor or anyone of taking bribes is a very serious accusation and should be backed up by concrete proof. Posting such accusations on social media is a cowardly act. Keyboard warrior springs to mind.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Steve Wright (27th Mar 2024 - 22:23:05)

Aah how innocent you are Penny, how else did a company failing miserably on all of their KPI’s get their contract renewed? Please do tell.
Veolia got a contract renewed while failing to deliver a reasonable service to us the council tax payer, who as a reminder pay their salaries and the councillors too. Our local councillor got taken on several all expenses paid trips to the Veolia HQ.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (28th Mar 2024 - 15:14:33)

I note you refuse to quote names Steve. Very wise. I assume you are talking about the Bramshott and Liphook District Councillors of which there are 3 and your only reason for saying what you have, is supposition. Not evidence at all You haven't a shred of proof otherwise you would have done something about instead of being a keyboard warrior and posting on Social Media. If I had concrete evidence of any sort of corruption, particularly by people in public office I would not be putting it on Liphook Talkback - I would be talking to the police.

I don't believe our Parish Council have any say over these services - that would be EHDC.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- John Evans (28th Mar 2024 - 15:52:04)

Hi Penny you’re clearly a lovely person based on your previous posts but I do have to agree with Steve on this one. How did a service provider who failed miserably to deliver the contractual service that they supposed to provide get their contract renewed?
Maybe one of the local councillors can provide a response?

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (28th Mar 2024 - 16:44:18)

Hello John Assuming that Steve is referring to one or all 3 of the Bramshott & Liphook District Councillors, I personally know two of them and know of the third and I would be extremely surprised and shocked if any of them have taken or are taking bribes. Indeed I would go as far as to say that I would stake my life that the two I know definitely would not. As to why the contract was renewed I do not know but why doesn't Steve pick up the telephone and ask them, send an email or call into the Parish Office and ask for a meeting. To conclude I doubt very much if any of B & L councillors including the parish councillors read Liphook Talkback. I know I wouldn't if I was a councillor!

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Local (28th Mar 2024 - 16:53:49)

Penny I think some do because at various meetings that they attend some let slip and refer to talkback. But they take very little notice of the reports.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- PR (28th Mar 2024 - 17:36:06)

EHDC failed to send out renewal notices for Garden Waste Collection, as agreed in their initial customer contract which stated that ' You will be advised by post, and or email, when your subscription is due'.

Result, the suspension of hundreds of bin collections, due to non payment on time.

Reason, EHDC short of funding to meet collection obligations.

How do I know, a councillor told me.

EHDC - Shambolic.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Joe (28th Mar 2024 - 19:04:44)

Penny just “ knowing personally” 2 conservative district councillors from meetings of the conservative association or general socialising is not really evidence of innocence so please do not “stake your life” on something so unprovable unless you genuinely have second sight (which I doubt).

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Jon (28th Mar 2024 - 19:14:23)

Someone representing Liphook & Bramshott Parish council staff must read Liphook TalkBack, as they have replied to various threads such as the recent Camera story & various Radford park topics.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Steve (28th Mar 2024 - 22:18:10)

Well here we'd all go off again chasing yet another conspiracy theory!
EHDC would have been obliged to run a properly run procurement process for the provision of this service. Failure to do so would leave them open to action from a number of directions, including misconduct in public office.
Could it just be possible that Veolia secured the contract on the basis of the lowest bid?

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (29th Mar 2024 - 13:04:05)

PR I have always received a renewal notice for my brown bin - perhaps I was one of the lucky ones. However I always keep a diary note myself in case for whatever reason I get missed. Everyone these days relies too much on the "nanny" state and have stopped taking responsibility for themselves.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (29th Mar 2024 - 13:10:46)

Local Do you blame them? What can they do - join an online discussion which will probably degenerate into a slanging match and will get them nowhere. My experience of our District Councillors is that they work extremely hard and are good and honest people. If someone has proof that councillors anywhere are taking bribes then they should contact the police and stop hiding behind a keyboard.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- PR (29th Mar 2024 - 17:36:12)

Penny Williamson

What a curt reply.

If I enter into a contract in which the other party states their obligations and intentions to me, or indeed mine to them, I expect them to be fulfilled. Contracts are legally binding.

If all contracts were so poorly observed one wonders the point of any.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- James (29th Mar 2024 - 20:42:55)

Hi Penny you seem to be very sure that there is/was no brown envelopes being passed about. Can you please elaborate on this and why you’re so sure of your stance. There was a lot of suspension about Peter at the time I seem to remember.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Steve (29th Mar 2024 - 21:50:17)

Very difficult to prove a negative James🙄

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (30th Mar 2024 - 07:50:06)

PR I am sorry that you thought my reply was curt. That was not my intention. James, who is Peter and I think you meant suspicion not suspension. No, I cannot elaborate about my feelings but neither you or anyone else so far has demonstrated that they have absolute proof that our Bramshott and Liphook Councillors are taking bribes. As I have said before if they do my advice would be to contact the police.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Joe (30th Mar 2024 - 12:32:50)

Penny I think you are going off track here . The waste recycling and the contract is dealt with by EHDC the portfolio is held by Bill Mouland ( which means he does get a higher and travel expenses ) than those other councillors on the committee. The waste contract is absolutely nothing to do with the Parish Council so no point trying to bribe them.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Richard (30th Mar 2024 - 20:41:39)

Hi Penny given the facts it’s hard to believe the contract was not renewed on merit alone. It is a matter of fact that Veolia were failing miserably to deliver on their contractual obligations at the time their agreement was renewed.
Fact - people didn’t receive a reminder to renew their brown bin license from the council when by coincidence Veolia didn’t have the infrastructure to provide the service they were contracted to deliver. The council helped relieve the pressure and not issue reminders as they have done so for every other year.
Everyone does not have the time in their busy lives to sit and wait like you clearly did when the licence expired to renew it without a reminder, that doesn’t make them bad people just busy people.
Why are Tory wives so up themselves? Please do enlighten us?

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (31st Mar 2024 - 09:36:53)

Joe Nowhere in my post dated 30 March and I assume that is the one to which you are responding, did I mention Parish Councillors. I referred to the Bramshott and Liphook Councillors and was referring to our 3 District Councllors. I am sorry if that was not clear. Richard . I do not sit around waiting for anything. I merely stated that I put the renewal date in my diary to remind me. Took about 1 minute of my time and nowhere have I said that people are "bad". I think too many people rely on the "nanny" state but that does not make them "bad" people. Lastly please do not make assumptions about marital status or my political beliefs. Some of these posts on this Thread are based on too many assumptions and very little, if any proof.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- AR (31st Mar 2024 - 10:31:45)

Our District councillors over the last few years have been very helpful to the constituents, unlike some of the failings of some in the Parish council over a number of years.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Joe (31st Mar 2024 - 10:58:12)

Indeed very true "Penny" - do not assume anything! I have heard a theory that instead of being " Penny " you are "Peter" Williamson instead, so yes if true, a very keen local Tory and friend of Bill Mouland EHDC councillor. As I say - just a theory!

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (31st Mar 2024 - 19:03:30)

Joe I can assure you I am not Peter Williamson. I have never met him or know anything about him. More importantly I am a female. Now i understand James's statement: "There was a lot of suspension about Peter at the time I seem to remember" I replied to James with a question which was "who is Peter Williamson" and added that the word he used in his post should have been suspicion not suspension. He didn't bother to respond.

Re: Proposed closure of Household Waste Transfer stations
- Penny Williamson (31st Mar 2024 - 21:54:32)

Mistake before anyone else picks it up. I asked who is Peter. I didn't t at that time know his second name.
