Suspected Scam

I received a telephone call this morning from a gentleman purporting to be calling from the Telephone Preference Service. He asked if I have been receiving unsolicited calls even though I was registered with the Telephone Preference Service. I advised that I was receiving some calls from the UK, but more from abroad. He advised that as from tomorrow these calls would cease.
He then proceeded to confirm my home address and then asked me to confirm my credit card number. At this point I became suspicious as the Telephone Preference Service has no interest in credit cards and stopped the conversation.
As a precaution I dialled 1471 to ascertain the caller’s telephone number which was 01143 190622.
When I phoned this number there was a message advising that ‘this number was not in service’
Beware!!

we have had these as well several times a day . we just let the answer phone kick in

Get calls from this and/or similar numbers several times a day. Now let them go to answerphone. If you google the numbers you’ll find that there are a lot of people complaining about these calls.
