Dog poo
- Jo (12th Jan 2018 - 19:54:45)
People of Liphook- those of you that do clean up after your dog, thank you. To those of you that don't and there are quite a few, please start to pick up your dog's mess. After having a dog for 8 months now I am disgusted at the amount of poo that I see every day that has not been picked up, it seems to be getting worse. It's not hard to pick it up and then it makes it more pleasant for the community.

Jo I'm totally with you on this!
Previously I've rolled my eyes at previous "poo posts" (Sorry!) but it really is getting worse! We recently walked up at Iron Hill and it's safe to say we won't be returning any time soon - absolutely disgusting.
If everyone picked up their own dog's poo (as I do with ours), it wouldn't be an issue. Are people really so lazy that they can't bend their backs any longer?

Iron Hill is particularly bad and has been for a number of years. Stopped walking our dogs there years ago as not only was there poo everywhere on the ground but also bags of the stuff laying around, made me embarrassed to be a dog owner up there

I second that having recently trod a steaming staining pile into my Axeminster. Down near the Moose court Flats Portsmouth Rd is a steamer hotspot.

Yes I agree, its disgusting, please pick it up. I also have dog do-do on my front garden (not much of a garden I agree, but its still MY garden), I wouldn't even allow my dog to squat on someones garden..... So please have some respect.!

Yes I think we are all irritated by this - if you can't deal with the dog poo - you shouldn't be owning a dog - how do you bend down to feed it- if that is your argument- for not doing the dog poo bend - shame on you

Even my hubby who doesn't notice much, has been making comments about the amount on the Millennium Green.
There was a lady just now on Millennium whose small dog did a poo outside the hall on the grass, her dog carried on walking as it was off the lead, so even though she made a show of getting the poo bag out of her pocket, she then left the poo, as she had to carry on with the dog I assume. Does anybody challenge these people?

The millennium green is used by locals ,scouts guide groups for outside activities, so it is disgusting that people allow there dogs to poo there and not remove it. No excuse there are bins . Personally I don’t think it’s safe to free walk a dog on that green so close to busy roads. If you see someone not cleaning up behind their dog take a photo (we all carry phones)and report them.

The body reponsible for fining people for this are EHDC, in the person of the dog warden, so as well as a photograph they would need a name and address to connect the photograph with the name of the person. It would be too much to expect
their staff to stake out the green and lay in wait for people as some people walk their dogs early morning and last thing at night.

Quite agree! I am a dog walker, and pick up poo all the time! I hate to see poo lying by footpaths, as I dont want to step in it either. Often, when I see owners walking past or pretending they did not spot the dump, offer a free bag..... just in case they have 'forgotten' one.
