Christmas Dinner for the homeless
- Dawn Hoskins (12th Dec 2017 - 13:55:28)

So, this year we would like to get involved with feeding the homeless a Christmas dinner.

Apart from London, we can't find anywhere that is doing this?
Dominic is in Brighton at university and they have a terrible homeless problem - but we can't even find anything there?

Any advice on where to go, please - or who to contact?

Dawn, if you scroll down the list, Hove Methodist Church is providing Christmas Day lunch for 120 people. Maybe they could use an extra pair of hands?

Hi Jen
Yes we did this a few years ago but it is for the elderly and lonely, which although a very worthy cause is not what we are wanting to do.

It is specifically being with the homeless on Christmas day that we are wanting to do as a whole family

Sometimes it is helpful to get involved in projects earlier in the year,. So many charities struggle through the year and then have an overload of people wanting to help on Christmas Day. To be honest, the project I support have had the Christmas period planned since the end of October with the volunteers allocated for shopping, transport, gift wrapping , cooking etc. I’m not sure if it is different in the south of England.

Perhaps the Salvation Army may be able to help guide you to any organisations still requiring the numbers.

Hope you find a way to give this Christmas.

Perhaps try Footsteps in Guildford (footsteps.org.uk). They serve a Christmas meal to the homeless at Christmas.
