I fly by helicopter instead as its cheaper. I think Concord was £5 a mile so maybe the locals should buy and refurbish the museum pieces and start flying them again. I am of course joking about flying by helicopter but not about using local taxis. I walk.

With regards as being cheaper, it is East Hanmpshire County Council who set the rates in what we can charge, but at Maple Cars we are extremely competitive. I've always gone to Peter for trips for several years now - regular work and personal trips - never had a problem, never been let down, and he genuinely cares about his customers and business. Delighted to add my name to the long list of satisfied customers. Highly recommended.

East Hampshire sets the rates - I think not. They licence the taxis, they do NOT set the rates for Joe Public. I'm delighted Maple Cars have arrived and glad they are receiving good revues but please lets hope the increased competition makes travelling CHEAPER!!

It is indeed East Hampshire Council that set the rates in all of their licenced taxis, Whist you can charge under the metered cost, it is illegal to go over it. It basically work out at £2 a mile.

I would say that I was certainly charged more than the rates on this card for a 1.4 mile journey. I hasten to say this was by a competitor, who I will not name. I will reconsider my boycott!

Occasionally I get one of the odd trains from London where there is no waiting train at Haslemere to Liphook and there is a 50 minute wait, so jump in a taxi to Liphook station from Haslemere station, It used to be under 10 quid for the 4.4 miles, which is pretty spot on. More recently (couple of years) it seems to have escalated, feels like 20 quid including tip. Any reasons you know of Pete ? Only things I can think of is the Surrey rate card is based on St Georges Hill, Weybridge prices ! Or the taxi drivers who come up from Chichester to Haslemere station ignore the rate card because they can ? Cheers, Finchie

It is approximately £4 more than East Hampshire charge for exactly the same journey which is quite a difference. We are always delighted to come over to these places to save some money for our customers
