I have friends who offer to walk my dogs for nothing and I just give them
a bottle of wine. Provided you trust them I would not expect them to be CRB checked? And peoples own household insurance and petplan
insurances cover their dogs. I suspect you are a professional dog walker
who is miffed that someone is offering dog walking at a cheaper price.
I have used professional dog walkers and also some people I trust, trust in the person and that they love dogs and are not walking my dog purely
for the cash they can earn is more important to me. I would rather not have my dogs walked by someone who travels around in a huge van with the dogs in cages and then has them travelling around for half a day
picking up and dropping off other dogs!

Helen, honestly sometimes this board drives me insane I am not a professional dog walker and genuinely wanted to ensure that the person I allow my dogs to walk with has the relevant cover, is trustworthy and reliable. Because of you, the person advertising won't get the job. This board is just a rant board and nothing else. People are shot down in flames for just asking questions. Again I am not a dog walker I have my own professional career.

CRB is no longer accurate,it hasn't been for some years now
SEE LINK;
gov.uk/dbs-check-applicant-criminal-record
You can only check someone else’s criminal record when they apply for certain roles, for example in healthcare or childcare.
This is known as getting a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
NOT dogs.....
& If you carry out criminal records checks, you must have a policy on employing ex-offenders and show it to any applicant who asks for it.
It is only accurate to when the check was carried out - so check the date.......too ! OR as in this instance its not relevant !

Totally agree with IS, it would be interesting to know.
The poster did say they had references. Being CRB checked doesn't confirm the person has the ability and keenness for walking dogs.
In my experience as a two walks a day walker, you never see walkers of packs of dogs clear up the dog mess. No excuse even on common land.

As an aside - It is not usually possible for self-employed people to get DBS certs now. I think that they have to be requested by an employer.
Happy to be proved wrong - please let me know if this is not the case.
Your dog will soon let you know if they don't like the person walking them, generally if my dog like someone - so do I! If she doesn't I don't bother.
Most regular dog walkers (I mean people that own their own dogs rather than companies) will happily take another one along for their own dog to keep company. I have often walked other dogs and the owners return the favour.
From personal experience, if you want a professional you can't do better than either Sue Woods or Dan from K9 Allsorts.

If I was looking for a regular dog walker, there are several pointers I would look for.
Reliability and references from other owners
Insurance
Canine 1st aid current certificate
Qualifications , such as kennel club accreditation
Then I would want a meeting when I would stipulate my exact requirements of the job
I would check the vehicle used for transporting for 1st aid kit, and safety aids such as crates, harness, dog guards
Fully aware of countryside code
Contract with charges.
My dogs are my family and as such would not employ someone I felt wouldn’t give my dogs their full attention whilst in their care.
If that person is to have access to my home one cannot be too careful.

The point about access to your house is a good one but as regard to the van, which dog likes in summer to be transported around in a cage in a van and then possibly wait in the van while the dog walker walks the first
half of the dogs, possibly in searing heat in summer? I would much prefer to employ a person who can be local to you and not use a van. You do not see what goes on when you are at work, but I know sometimes dogs spend more than 2 hours in the van being transported to and from a walk sometimes on a very hot day. Why have a dog if you have to go out to work? Dogs are sociable creatures and all kinds of destructive behaviors occur through owners being out at work all day.
Think twice about getting a dog.
