Anyone know how the signpost directly in front of you as you turn onto the Longmoor Road after leaving the A3 from a southerly direction keeps on getting trashed?

I'm assuming it's HGVs trying to turn right but would love to really know. Next time they bother to fix it, why not put up some cameras to identify those responsible? If it is HGVs why not place it where they won't continually knock it over?

Cost of sign£50.00 Cost of cctv camera £300 you do the maths.Surrey county council has to lose £120mil of there budget wait for hants county budget cuts.If you really think the highways or county council will have money for a sign I think you are living in neverland

I've noticed this too and wonder what keeps happening to this sign. @Iwik61 I'm not sure you fully understand the situation Porky is describing. This sign has been knocked over / dented and replaced on several occasions over recent years and I doubt the cost has been £50 to repair or replace each time, it will have been far more than that. I'd imagine the cost of the sign would actually be more than the cost of the surveillance camera in reality these days.

I'll be interested to see if it is repaired again personally. Each time it has, it's been damaged again within a matter of days. I think Porky is probably right and it's caused by an HGV turning right onto the Longmoor Road each time.

Yes it was a little tongue in cheek, sure the signs maybe more money but am just trying to emphasize the facts that highways will be cutting budgets and councils will be as well.Just a idea get the speed check locals to sit down there with their smiley face and they can note the reg numbers.Failing that get a camera yourself and install it seeing they are so cheap. There are more life changing things locally to have sleepless nights about

Iwiki61 - you are the HGV driver and I win £10.

Yes I've noticed this too and always wondered why they put the sign back in exactly the same place?

Far better to move it aside out of reach of HGVs. This takes far more 'thought' than just ordering a new sign.

I've noticed this and have actually reported it once.
My thoughts were that it's actually a large vehicle doing a U Turn by coming off the A3, turning around and having to back up and therefore hitting the sign, and then going back down the slip road to re-join the A3.
If you look on the road there are tyre marks and I thought it might be the Salt/Grit Spreading Lorries but if it's happened recently then it puts paid to that theory :-) ..... unless they were out training from there base in Longmoor?

There ? Really ?

It's THEIR meaning belonging to them.

One of you I can understand but two of you ? Please get it right, it's not hard.

Dear Pleasegetthespellingright

Please would you kindly ensure you get the punctuation right if you must be a pedant. What you meant I believe was:

"There? Really?

It's "THEIR" meaning "belonging to them".

One of you I can understand but two of you? Please get it right, it's not hard."

Many thanks.
