Fly Tipping
- Pete (9th Aug 2017 - 21:13:35)

If anybody has had a renovation done with a blue toilet and sink removed your fly by night builders have dumped it on weavers down just up from the deers hut. This normally happens when someone accepts a quote that is too good to be true and pays in cash. I doubt you know the real name of the people that did your work but if you are in contact let them know your disgust please, unless of course you just don't care.

Hi Ed! I've emailed you some photos of the above mentioned fly tipping so that hopefully someone will have an idea where it's come from.

I agree this is quite outrageous but I recently took 3 bathroom items to the tip at Bordon and it cost me £2.50 per item to deposit them there.
The problem will only get worse as people can't afford these charges.
Stupid system!

- Katie (10th Aug 2017 - 14:05:12)

If you can afford a new bathroom suite, you can afford £2.50 per item disposal.

This is completely disgusting and the people involved should be made to clean it up then litter pick for the rest of the year!

Scuzbags!

£2.50 per item is not exactly breaking the bank and is absolutely not a justification for this type of behaviour. Services cost money and none of us want to pay extra local taxes so if you are producing extraordinary amounts of waste then you should pay for it to be disposed of properly. Too many people expect a free lunch nowadays. You want improved local services, you need to pay for them

Totally agree with Katie & Ian. Fly tipping is absolutely disgusting and cost councils ie the taxpayer a huge amount of money every year. We are lucky to have the tip at Bordon and I have never been charged for anything. If there are charges such as £2.50 perhaps for larger items I would have no objection. After all how much is a pint of beer, glass of wine let alone a packet of cigarettes.

It is awful that people dump rubbish in an area that is so beautiful.

Have you reported it to EHDC? Old Thorns and The Deer's Hut have CCTV so they may be able to pick up the registration for the van. Do you have the date it was dumped?

Happy to say that the EHDC contractor Id Verde was on the scene today to clear this - but the guy says he will have to return with a digger and a bigger truck because there is about a ton of waste there.

Some helpful soul had removed the blue toilet and cistern and put them under a tree a few hundred yards away along with some sheets of plywood. We carried them back to the truck and they have been taken away.

Thank you Bill for helping with the clearing. I did report it to EHDC and they telephoned me this morning. Great news that they cleared the mess.

Good to know it's a fly by night builder. It could have been anyone, maybe even a non builder.

Well done Bill. There may be no video footage from the Deer Hut if they came in from the other end of the track.

Sadly there’s been even more fly tipping over on weavers down. These time 20 litre drums of rapeseed oil.

This is industrial waste.

Whilst there may not be a delivery address label on the drums, there must be a manufacturer's code which should trace it to a retailer or, more likely, a wholesaler, who should be able to trace it to a transaction.

This has to stop.

Please could you send these details to EHDC

easthants.gov.uk/customer-services/contact-us

They will phone you tomorrow and ask for directions.

Thank you very much.

Great idea to post pictures, hope somebody recognises where this has come from. Last year a caravan was dumped there and set on fire. Couple of strategic cameras would help.

Re: Fly Tipping
- Michelle (6th Oct 2017 - 20:05:52)

Old Thorns has put some cameras on the track so maybe worth mentioning that when you report the fly tipping location to EHDC. Thank you for doing this.

Re: Fly Tipping
- Bill Mouland (31st Oct 2017 - 15:27:04)

Happy to say that after some detective work by officers at EHDC, who managed to trace the supplier through photographs, the drums were collected today by this very responsible company...Unhappily, the customer who dumped them is proving less easy to find...(Unless someone knows something....)
