Dog walks
- Jo (24th Jul 2017 - 17:25:24)

I'm looking for good local dog walks.

Chapel Common is a lovely place to walk your dog, lots of other friendly dog walkers there, it's on the Portsmouth road heading out of Liphook to Rake, turn sharp right at the end of the dual-carriageway!
Iron Hill is on the Midhurst road, heading out of Liphook on the left, just after a dip in the road!
Bramshott Common, Waggoner Wells, Weavers Down(beautiful views),
Ludshott Common in Grayshott!!
Lots of lovely places, you should be able to google the above for directions. Happy walking

Depending on where you are, the following walks are recommended.

Chapel Common

Iron Hill

Weaver's Down

Bramshott Common (Ontario)

We really are spoilt for choice in Liphook.

Bramshott common offers miles of walks, best has to be Waggoners Wells.

Is it because you are new to the area?
Personally, I get lost all the time and if I'm going to the larger places I go with someone else - just to make sure I can get back to the car.
My favourite it Bramshott Common walking through to Waggoner Wells, this afternoon I went to Petworth park - about 30 mins but the deer are amazing at the moment.
If you need enclosed (fenced) space, the enclosed common at Passfield is great. Entrances are all around it from Passfield through Standford and on to Whitehill.

Just be aware that there are plenty of Adder snakes in this area and especially on Weavers Down. Best to keep to the paths and try to keep your dog out of long grass and heather etc.
Keep a Piriton tablet on you in case of a snake bite but still go to the vets if it happens.

Thank you. I've lived here for a few years but we just adopted a dog.

Remember it is ground nesting bird season so please keep your dog on a lead or at heel. Ground nesting birds are particularly vulnerable to dogs but it is thanks to these birds that we enjoy so much open access space here where dogs can be walked responsibly. Without these birds the land would lose its special protection status and surrounding buffer zone land would be open for development.
