DEVILS LANE ...SLOW DOWN
- shan (26th Jun 2017 - 23:49:09)

i would like to give my concern about the speed people drive up devils lane 2 cats both owned by the same person have been killed on that lane in less than 2 weeks it is a single track road not a motor way to go speeding up parents walk there children and dogs up that lane every day

I subscribe, every day I walk there to the job.

This morning I was walking my dogs along Devils Lane and was nearly mown down by 2 mums in 4 wheel drives with children strapped in the back
I had to leap up a bank or would have been knocked down.
Why do they use this as a cut through and go so quickly on a narrow lane.
Both sped off towards Highfield Lane.
One day they will meet someone speeding towards them,
Please stop the speed and use Highfield Lane not Chiltley Lane / Devils Lane

Shame you didn't get the number plate, it could have been published on here, then hopefully the driver would read it and feel really embarassed and slow her down.

Nothing like a good bit of mob justice hey Ann?

To So,
Whilst I agree that at certain times of the day the lane becomes busier I would dispute that the culprits go to Highfield school.
I live in the lane, walk my dogs two or three times a day and walk children up to the school, so know most of the cars that go to the school. All are courteous and drive slowly pass me. Most of these vehicles are actually not 4x4s. There are a lot of people that exit Chiltlee Lane, and I see the same people every day.
The hedge growth should be cut back, but the family who own the field have moved on. The farmer of the agricultural field cuts back every year, making visibility better.
Since the lane was re tarmacked driving is a lot easier now, making the lane more accessible. It is also used by delivery firms of which there are so many now.
In 15 years I have never had to climb the bank to avoid traffic, standing on the side should suffice, and I have three dogs !
Although a few weeks ago I did shout at a vehicle with two men in that was driving way too fast. I had to point out that Highfield school was just about to come out and they could have hit a car, to which they sped off driving too fast.

i live on the lane and the traffic is to fast as i said before 2 cats within a 2 week period have been killed and also a little boy was knocked off a horse a couple of months ago by people driving to fast up that lane as a devils lane resident the lane speed should be changed from national to 30 visibility is very poor with the bushes being over grown you can't see and easily knock someone over as i said a lot of people walk up and down the lane each day cars should go slow i think 20mph is fast enough up the lane
