Hot weather - warning your pets - KM (19th Jun 2017 - 11:39:04)
With the hot weather please make sure are as safe as possible with plenty of fresh water etc - Some animals especially rabbits find it difficult to cope with hot weather - they can not sweat - please provide shade or move hutch in to shade if possible - Indoor rabbits - if kept in a plastic based pen consider putting an ice pack under the pen in an area to give relief - they will sit there if they need some respite ( not in it as they will chew through ) or have a fan blowing near by if you can. I don't need to say do not leave dogs in cars I am sure - also check rabbits for fly strike - this can kill within hours - if in doubt contact your vet.
any other ideas anybody?

Keep fish ponds topped up.

We got a cat drinking fountain a while ago and both our cats love it. They drink a lot more water now.
Apparently cats prefer drinking from a running water source that is not too close to their food

I bought a bowl from the pet shop in the Rake garden centre last year. It has a double skin and is filled with liquid so you can chill or freeze it so the water stayed cold for longer. It is brilliant.
