Advice needed - Broadband Customer Service
- Kate (16th Jan 2017 - 16:17:06)

Hi,

Just wondering what broadband providers people are with, and what they think of the Customer Service they have received? After only 3 months I have had an absolute shocking time with BT - endless technical problems that they have no interest in solving, my broadband has been disconnected and they have blocked my mobile number so I can no longer call them!

Just a little worried about signing up with another company and having the same issues!

Many thanks.

Hi,

Do you mind me asking if you said anything to BT that would have made them want to block calls from you?

What are the technical problems you've been having?

I've never heard of a broadband provider block a customer from calling them before so something serious must have happened, as I don't imagine they'd block a number without a very good reason.

Craig

I was with BT for years and their customer service just got worse and worse, ending up with them charging me to fix a problem at the exchange which they refused to refund. It was the last straw so I dumped them and moved to PlusNet where I almost halved my bills for broadband and phone. I've used their support number a couple of times and found them excellent. I'm sure others will tell you about good experiences with other providers.

I dumped BT and moved to PlusNet and the BT chap who was trying to persuade me to to stay was quite rude!

The irony is that PlusNet is owned by...

...BT!

Craig, thanks for your response. I was promised a call back from their support team, and when they rang they only let it ring one and a half rings so I couldn't pick up the phone in time. They left me a voicemail saying they have cancelled my service as per my previous request, which is certainly not what I requested. They cut off my service on 27th December due to a Data Initializing issue which they have said is completely not my fault. I have spoken to so many people at BT but no one is listening to me. Whenever I try to call them now, an automated message says "we've recently tried to call you but there was no answer. If we need to contact you again we will. You have not been charged for this call"...very frustrating!

Keith, thanks for your comment. I was looking at Plusnet today and their prices did look good.

Yes, I've not found BT staff to be very polite or understanding. BT seem to be involved with most broadband providers one way or another!

I have been with Zen Internet for broadband for >5 years now.
I originally picked them because of their awards for customer service

They have won a number of awards, including customer service of the year

www.zen.co.uk/about-us/latest-awards

I have always had fantastic service from them

- Phone is answered in a few rings
- UK staff who know their stuff

I went with BT the moment they launched Infinity in Liphook.

What a joke that was. Speeds nothing like they said, constant drops, and very poor customer service.

As soon as my contract was up I changed to Sky Fibre and it couldn't be more different. On the whole reliable and with the speeds I should have got with Infinity.

I'd never use BT again.

I had endless issues with BT, canceled the contact soon as ended and moved with SKY, better speed ( 39Mb Down /9Mb Up ) UK customer service, £36 for BB&TV+Phone line
