- Jane Ives (5th Dec 2016 - 22:36:35)

Just to let everyone know it looks like the new tree will be planted tomorrow (Tuesday).

Thanks Jane, I will be looking out for it!

The tree is in! Still some finishing off work to do around the site but we now have a new chestnut tree in our Square.

New tree planted at the Royal Anchor

Great, still not the one that was voted for,so much for democracy.

Ollie - As Trump and Brexit have shown, democracy isn't all that its cracked up to be.

Congratulations to Jane Ives and Greene King for organising this.

Any chance of a photo? Yes I went past it yesterday evening and this morning on way from/to work but it was dark and I'm afraid I ...ermm.. forgot. Love to see what it looks like in the daylight before the weekend! Thanks.

Which isnt upright the tree or the guard? Maybe now sorted

- Rachel (8th Dec 2016 - 12:39:04)

GR, I watched them planting the tree, and they spent a lot of time trying to get it straight. Maybe it's just the camera angle, I do hope so.

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Steve (9th Dec 2016 - 07:53:17)

To be honest the tree is pathetic, just a cheap way out, it should have been 10 times the size. Green King being skin flints!!!!

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Mick Sterbs (9th Dec 2016 - 08:18:36)

Well, I was there when they planted the tree and seeing as all the bleating about the Christmas lights seems to have stopped, I asked the workmen if they could plant it at an angle to give certain people something to whinge about.

Job done !

Actually, nothing is leaning so I'm afraid you need to find something else in the village to bleat about. Christmas Carols are coming up so will wait to hear from you after that.

Happy Christmas.

Steve, you are an twerp What were you expecting? A fully grown 200 hundred year old tree!

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- s (9th Dec 2016 - 10:56:39)

Good news folks -

Trees are living beings, once planted they will use the guiding light of the sun to straighten themselves out over time!

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- D (9th Dec 2016 - 17:18:05)

Well said Ian !

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Steve (9th Dec 2016 - 23:23:00)

Ian I'm in the trade that twig is worth about £ 200 one 40 years old about £1000. You can even rehome a tree that's got to be moved because of a development. That tree I have cut down as rubbish trees that size!!!!

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Gr (10th Dec 2016 - 08:50:17)

It was not a winge about the leaning just an observation as a trades person who has spent hours and hours getting things level and uprigjt you notice it more so please do not take offense
I will be at the carols helping as usual

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Jen (10th Dec 2016 - 11:13:49)

I agree with Steve, that the new tree is disappointingly small. I was expecting a far more mature tree, something that is recognisably a "tree" rather than a little sapling.

- BigBoy, Headley Road (10th Dec 2016 - 11:22:23)

Thank you to Jane Ives (and others on the Parish Council) for doing a great deal to get this result. Very Good !!

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Richard (10th Dec 2016 - 15:17:16)

But at least this way, at least one more generation is likely to enjoy the tree before it next needs replacing!

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Steve (10th Dec 2016 - 15:45:57)

What has Jane Ives done, not what the vote for the tree the Liphook people had asked for !!!!
The tree is just a cheap way out for green king. Very disappointed in what we ended up with 😕

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- D (10th Dec 2016 - 17:50:39)

Just be grateful for small mercies.. Greene King were under no obligation to supply anything.

Re: Tree planting at The Anchor
- Finchie (11th Dec 2016 - 10:20:48)

Is it a bit like the conservatives winning the election under Cameron and then a swap to May ?

Just saying (in a feeble attempt to keep this one going as it is a brilliant thread !)

Finchie
